DATES FOR YOUR DIARY:
Parking during Building Works
Please note that during the building works parking
will not be possible in the designated bays in the
southern end of Combe Hay Lane due to the access
requirements of the site. Please do not park on Sulis
Manor Road to wait for your sons and daughters
since there may well be heavy lorries having to turn
into the lane. Please also note that the bike shed
outside the Gateway building will be out of action
during the construction period. The site itself will be
self-contained and will not impact on the normal
running of the school apart from periods of noise
depending on the phase of construction.

Sixth Form Open Evening on Thursday 22 October
This week I have written to all Year 11
parents/carers and their sons and daughters with
more information about the sixth form open evening
from 6.30 - 9.00 pm on Thursday 22 October. The
evening will give our Year 11 students an
opportunity to find out more about the courses on
offer in the sixth form, which is now in its third year.
We have had our first set of results, which were
excellent, and our first cohort of students has gone
off to various destinations in higher education to
pursue their studies. With the development of our
facilities, our academic success and our deeply
embedded pastoral care, we believe we can offer an
outstanding sixth form experience for our students.

Year 8 Rugby
Saint Gregory’s 7 v 7 Writhlington
After several challenging matches this season the
ever improving Year 8 team faced a home fixture
against Writhlington School. The match started at a
fast pace with both teams playing some fantastic
running rugby. However, it was Saint Gregory’s who
eventually put together several phases of play with
the forwards controlling possession well. This
pressure resulted in a try for Saint Gregory’s which
was confidently converted by Archie Morris 8B.
The second half witnessed the visitors equalling the
scoreboard with a converted try. It was however
Saint Gregory’s who were pushing for the winning
score but unfortunately didn’t quite manage this,
resulting with the game finishing in a 7-7 draw. This
draw represented the progress and resilience the
team have shown this year. Well done to all
involved.
Year 10 Rugby
Norton Hill 14 v 15 Saint Gregory’s
The Year 10 rugby team travelled away to Norton
Hill for a league fixture. History dictated that the
game would be a very close one and this is exactly
how it played out. Saint Gregory’s went behind
twice in the match but both times showed great
team spirit and calm execution when getting
themselves back into the game. The match finished
with Norton Hill a point behind pressuring the Saint
Gregory’s try line but thanks to some great team
defence and a match winning tackle from Will
Moffatt-Perez 10L it resulted in the Saint Gregory’s
win. A fantastic win and a big well done to all
involved.
