Compound Words Two words that when joined together create another word. e.g. lunch + box =lunchbox Have a go! Shout “yes” when you have completed the task. Antonym means opposite. These mean opposite • “un” means “not” • “de” means “making the opposite of” • “dis” means “not, the opposite of” • “mis” means “wrong”or “false” • “non” means “not” • “anti” means “against” Play the Antonym Team sorting Shout “yes” when you have finished! Possessive Plurals • If the owner is single, put an apostrophe at the end and add “s”. e.g. Peter’s, Alison’s. • If the owner is plural, and the word already has an “s” put the apostrophe after the word. E.g. the boys’ footballs. • If the word is plural and doesn’t end in an “s” add an apostrophe and an “s”. e.g. the children’s parties. Short vowel in the middle of words. N.B. No words use hh, jj, kk, qq, vv, ww, xx, yy. Activity – create a double letter alphabet.
