Dear Parents…
Well done to those pupils from Yr 1, 2, 3 & 5 who took part in the ACE
Sports Day @ Charlestown on Wednesday. They all represented St Columb
Major Academy really well.
We are very much looking forward to following the yellow brick road… next
week with our School production of The Wizard of Oz. Everyone, staff &
pupils have worked tirelessly with rehearsals this term – thank you to Miss
Evans for all she has done together with her team of colleagues who are
always there to provide support.
Well done to those who took part in Surf Life Saving this week in such poor
conditions, they were all a real credit to us.
Parents in Early Years, Yr 2 and Yr 6 will have received invitations to our
Awards Ceremony where we mark transitions to the next stage in their
education. We very much look forward to meeting you all there and
celebrating with your children. On behalf of all Staff and Governors here at
St Columb Major Academy may we wish all of our Yr 6 pupils every success
in the next stage of their education.
We are almost at the end of yet another successful school year. I would
like to say a big thank you to all our parents, grandparents and friends who
help and give us so much support during the year in the classroom, at
school events, and with extra-curricular activities - your help is always so
much appreciated and we value the support you all give. We look forward
to welcoming you back into school next term as well as many of our new
parents. If you would like to get involved in supporting us in any way
please let us know.
Our thanks too, to our new group of ‘Friends of St Columb Major’ for their
hard work and enthusiasm – thanks to Lyn Elford for all her support at the
helm! Events like our school discos, fayres, fund raising evenings etc., all
help to raise extra funds for school resources. We would love to see yet

Thanks also must go to our Governors who give much of their valuable
time to St Columb Major Academy throughout the year.
Next week we will be saying ‘a fond farewell’ to Mrs Nash on her
retirement and Mr Cornish who will be taking up a new post at another
school. We wish them both all the very best in the future.
We look forward to having Mrs Michelle Hall with us in September as
Associate Headteacher, it was lovely to see her earlier in the week. We
also welcome Miss Rosie Brogden, who will be teaching Yr 3 (Class 7) in
September. Miss Brogden is returning to Cornwall to be near her family
after teaching in Surrey. It was great to see her in school this week
meeting her new class.
All that remains from me, on behalf of everyone here at St Columb Major
ACE Academy, is to wish you all a really safe and happy summer break and
we will see you back in school on Tuesday 6th September. The 5th
September will be a Staff Training day.
I must also remind you that we finish school on the last day of term –
Friday 22nd July at 2pm.

Office info .....
Please could we ask that all medicines and asthma inhalers are
collected from the Office by next Friday 22nd July. New medication
forms will need to be filled out for the next academic year. This will
also give parents the opportunity to replace medicines/inhalers
that have expired.
Any medicines that are not collected will be disposed of
appropriately – many thanks.

Huge Congratulations to Hayden Roose who passed his Trumpet
Exam.
Teachers Comment:
“I am so very proud of everyone who did their exam this summer.
You worked really hard and to take an exam whilst at primary
school is a really big achievement”.
“Absolutely brilliant Hayden, you showed real determination to
practice the pieces which were really long and quite tricky”. 🎺
“Thank you for all your hard work”.
