Process
1. In the classroom, give the students a handful of coins. They can decide how many pennies, nickels, and dimes
to use to make $.82. They can work in teams.
2. Use student handout to record how
many coins were used.
3. Students use The Graph Club to create
the graph and write analysis of the
data. This can be done in teams on the
laptops, or in the lab individually.
4. Save and print the graphs.
5. As a class, discuss how many different
ways to make $.82.
Differentiation:
• Use the voice recording feature in the

• Change Title and Axis labels
• Use a smaller number of total coins.
• Make two graphs that challenge the
students to use the fewest and highest
number of coins to reach $.82.
