Course Syllabus
School: Quaker Valley Middle School
Course Title: Math Foundations Course 2
Course Number: 3296
Course Description: Course 2 is designed to prepare students for Pre-Algebra. It is aligned with seventh
grade standards and will provide the foundational skills necessary for a Pre-Algebra course. Course 2, like PreAlgebra, has a wide scope, including substantial amounts of geometry integrated with arithmetic and algebra
topics. Basic calculations will be practiced throughout the course, with calculators used at the teacher’s
discretion. The course will begin its focus with positive values to build a strong foundation before moving to
negative concepts later in the course. Technical reading and writing will also be emphasized through written
explanations and justifications of problem solutions.
