2016-2017 HSC Board Representatives
President
Hello, my name is Megan Hawkins. Originally from Canada, I've lived here in
the San Jose area for 6 years. I have a daughter, Vera, in first grade at
DeVargas, and a son, Calvin, who is 3 years old. I served as HSC secretary
last year, I also serve as the secretary of the parent board at Wilson Preschool
in Santa Clara. I have a degree in Biology and in my spare time I enjoy
synchronized swimming, reading, and yoga.
Vice President
Hi my name is Tanya Robertson. I have two children attending DeVargas (a
third grader and a second grader). Originally from the Sacramento area, I
moved to the bay 12 years ago. In addition to teaching transitional
kindergarten, I do ESL placement testing. I enjoy volunteering and being an
integral part of all our children's educations.

Secretary
Hi my name is Monnia Oropeza. I grew up in Los Angeles, CA. I'm a
computer engineer and have been working in Silicon Valley since the late
nineties. I have two boys at DeVargas. One in 2nd and one in 3rd grade. In my
free time I like to travel, rollerblade and read. I also enjoy volunteering for HSC!
Treasurer
Hi, my name is Calee Parise and I am the current HSC Treasurer. My daughter
Lilie is a 4th grader at De Vargas Elementary. My son Levi is almost 4 years old
and will attend De Vargas in 1 short year. I am a stay-at-home-mom, but I also
run my cake business out of my house. Being treasurer has been very
rewarding for me. I have made many friends by volunteering and being a part
of the HSC board.
Parliamentarian
My name is David Nguyen. I'm a proud dad of a 3rd grader at De Vargas
Elementary School. I'm returning as Parliamentarian for HSC. My Red Cross
background includes organizing and mobilizing volunteers to respond to local
and national disasters, creating systems to improve infrastructure of broken
communities, and working with diverse groups of people to ensure inclusion. In
addition, I have served on many non-profit boards and community
organizations for over 20 years.
