My experience with [Hertlein Grant Writing] has been wonderful. I have found them to be a personable and professional
organization that has been instrumental in the continuing
success of the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe. They have been
most effective in working with tribal departments to understand needs and tailoring grant writing to those needs.

Arlington Kids Kloset:
New Staff for Student Support Program
AKK provides new and gently used clothing
and personal hygiene products to students
in northern Snohomish County. Community members typically
contribute over 3,000 hours
annually to this volunteerrun program. Grant funds
are allowing AKK to hire
their first Executive Director
staff position to provide leadership and
organization for day to day operations, as
well as community outreach, fundraising,
long term planning, and strategic growth.
Bread of Life Mission:
Life Change Program for Homeless Men
Homelessness continues to be a large and growing problem
in Seattle. Bread of Life, which is located in the heart of
Pioneer Square, provides shelter, food, basic necessities, and
an opportunity for men to recover from addictions through
the LifeChange Recovery Program. Grant funds are allowing
the Mission to hire counselors, instructors, and managers
to double the capacity of this life-changing program in the
upcoming year.
Centerstone of Seattle:
Capital Campaign for Building Purchase
For more than 50 years the Central District has been recognized as an area of extreme
poverty in Seattle, and needs
in the community led to the
creation of Centerstone in
1964. All of their services,
including a food bank serving
more than 10,000/year, are
based out of an historic 1909
fire station. Seattle has agreed to sell the historic building
to Centerstone, and with grant funds making ownership a
real possibility they have plans to renovate the space to add
programs to serve a greater number of low-income clients.
Whidbey Children’s Theater:
New Equipment for Educational Theater
Whidbey Children’s Theater is the only theater arts program on rural Whidbey Island that works in partnership
with the local school district, providing education and
theater opportunity for more than 1,000 youth each year.
In addition to operations funding, grants have been
instrumental in installing new sound equipment and
updating bathroom facilities. This funding helps the
children’s theater continue to provide in-class arts instruction, after school classes, and summer programming.
Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe:
Federal Funds for Innovative Child Support Program
Located on the Kitsap Peninsula, the Tribe provides a wide
range of services for its 1,200 enrolled members. For struggling parents who
become cases in the
tribal Child Support
Department, this
innovative federal
grant project provides wrap-around
support. Cultural
activities such as
storytelling, drumming, weaving, and beading are combined with life skills
training such as budgeting, parenting, and healthy cooking
to provide engaging programs for parents and families in
the tribal child welfare system.

I wanted to let you know how much I appreciated your timely
execution, high-quality writing skills, and organization. You
demonstrated a high degree of sophistication in keeping the
grant completion process moving. Your ability to synthesize and
craft a variety of required elements of the application was due to
your past experiences in this field. We will surely keep your name
on the list of capable grant writers should we or our colleagues
need that service.
