Maria Koinova is an associate professor at the department of politics and
international studies at the University of Warwick, and author of the often hailed as
conceptually sophisticated and empirically rich Ethnonationalist Conflict in
Postcommunist States: Varieties of Governance in Bulgaria, Macedonia, and
Kosovo. Maria talks about her book and offers insight into the underlying causal
mechanisms of conflict perpetuation and change that will shed light on broader
patterns of ethnic violence.
