Soccer Skills
Dancing
Every Friday we have soccer skills with Owen Frey. We are
looking forward to playing soccer tournaments and improving
our skills.
We have dancing every Thursday for the last 2 classes of the
day with Jennifer. We do warm ups and stretches for the first
half and we learn different routines in the second half. One
week we got the chance to make up a dance in different
groups. We had a laugh and had the chance to make a fool of
ourselves. It is great fun and very enjoyable because we get a
break from school work. We are looking forward to the next
few classes we have with Jennifer, its one of our favourite activities so far.

Leary, Conor Cronin and David Brown.
Personal Development
Monday afternoons are for personal development. We all sit in
a circle and talk about feelings. The Samaritans help you to deal
with your emotions. It is a helpline for people who need someone to talk to. It is also a lot of fun and we all work together as
a team.
Rachel Merritt, Hayley Coleman, Naoise Lombard, Karen
Brothers.
Fitness/ Tae Kwon Do
Every Thursday afternoon we have two classes of fitness/ Tae
Kwon Do with Noel. We find it helpful and interesting because
we are learning about all the muscles in the body and we have
to stretch them properly. We are getting really fit as we have
been running around the school and we do fitness games in
the canteen . At the end we are always out of breath but feel
really good after it. We also do muscle toning exercises. We
learned how to defend ourselves if we were ever attacked as
he teaches us self defence moves. At the moment we are really
enjoying it.

Youth Health Service
The YMCA personal development is good because you get to
work as a team and get to know the other people in the class.
We learned about different drugs and what causes people to
take them. We were also told about the different agencies out
there to help people with problems with addiction and depression. We enjoy it because it develops our personalities and we
have our own opinions on the various subjects we discuss.

Chaplain’s Corner
Welcome back!! I would especially like to welcome
our 1st year students into our school community. I
hope that each student enjoys their school life here
and will find this year a rewarding one. The year ahead
is full of promises and yet there are challenges ahead.
As a community we ask God to help us depend on one
another for guidance, comfort and strength.
“Depend on the Lord and his strength; always go to him
for help. Remember the miracles he has done, remember
his wonders” (Psalm 105 4-5)

(i) It is school policy that parents/guardians complete an absent
slip to explain all absences. Please ensure that the absent slip is
filled in correctly with the pupil’s name, class, date of absences and
reason for absence.
(ii) All students have swipe cards with which to register their
attendance. It is a student’s responsibility to swipe his/her card
every morning before class begins. If they forget their card, or are
late, they can manually input their number at the secretary’s office.
(iii) Any student who neglects to register his/her attendance is
automatically marked absent. Consequently, all students who
forget to swipe in must provide a letter from their parent/
guardian stating that their son/daughter was in school.Their
records are then amended. Students are provided with a written
reminder of this fact.
(iv) It is a legal requirement to notify the National Education
Welfare Board of all absences of 20 days or more.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
