The Modular Data Acquisition and Logging (MODALTM) System is a rugged, highly configurable device
that provides multi-year monitoring and recording of temperature, humidity, shock, and vibration data
for high-value assets. Traditional evaluation of pre-deployment or pre-mission asset readiness has relied
upon periodic on-site surveillance and sample testing. By incorporating MODAL capabilities, exposure
to handling and environmental effects can now be monitored and recorded continuously, throughout the
entire lifecycle, for each individual asset. The information collected by the MODAL System can be used
to assess health; support diagnostic/prognostic algorithm development; and to support deployment,
re-certification, and retrofit decisions.

Specific MODALTM characteristics such as total data storage capacity, enclosure form-factor
(unenclosed CCAs may be purchased), and battery pack type may be selected by the customer
prior to purchase.
Characteristics such as shock/drop wake-up thresholds and shock/temperature/humidity
exceedance thresholds may be configured at the factory per customer specifications, or by
users in the field using available BTI MODAL configuration software.
Quick-look MODAL data are available via LED display: #Drops, #Shocks, #Shock Exceedances,
#Temperature Exceedances, #Humidity Exceedances, Battery Condition, Total Recorded Hours,
Total Recording Hours Remaining.
Long-term data are downloaded from the MODAL System to tablet or laptop computer via
high-speed USB 2.0 file transfer and stored in comma-separated-value (.csv) files, which are
easily accessed/analyzed with Microsoft ExcelTM or your data analysis package of choice.
Custom data file formats (i.e. other than .csv) can be generated to support customer needs.
