The Eau Claire Area School District offers Family Activity
Passes for sale at both Memorial and North High Schools. T
holders into ECASD high school activities throughout the
school year. Cost for the pass is $150 and each family receives two passes. The pass only allows
admittance for the immediate family living within the household. Passes can be purchased in
the main office at both high schools. All Memorial and North students receive free admission to
events with their current Student ID.
Sherman Elementary will sponsor the Sherman Star River Run on Friday,
September 18, at 7 pm, at Owen Park, to benefit the students of Sherman.
The River Run is a community-wide 2-mile fun run/walk at Owen Park with a
glow-in-the-dark theme. Learn more at

Robbins Elementary will host the Robbins Run, Walk and Roll 5K on Saturday,
September 26, at 9 am at Lowes Creek County Park.The event features a 5K bike
tour followed by The Robbins Rush, the .5K for elementary aged children and
concludes with a 5K run/walk. Refreshments will be available during the events.

The North and Memorial Eau Claire FFA is sponsoring two
upcoming events in September. On September 18, Eau Claire
FFA will feature a Feed My People Food Drive at the
North-Memorial football game. Those attending the game are
encouraged to bring non-perishable food items,
personal care items or household supplies.
On Wednesday, September 23, the group will host the Speak Up to Slow Down program at 6:45 pm
at the Memorial High auditorium. This powerful program consists of four speakers talking about teen
consequences. It’s based on their real life nightmare when a teenage driver made bad decisions
about speeding and six young women were injured, three more lost their lives and a community

Memorial High School guidance counselor Kris Terhark, has been selected as a
recipient of the 2015 Yale Educator Award. This award, sponsored by the
Yale Office of Undergraduate Admissions, recognizes teachers and counselors
from around the world who inspire and support their students to perform at
high levels and to achieve excellence. Congratulations to Terhark for this honor

Congratulations to Suzanne Devine, Northstar Middle School science and social studies teacher, for
being named Wisconsin’s Middle School Teacher of the Year by State Superintendent Tony Evers
last week in a surprise ceremony at Northstar. She will receive an unrestricted award of $3000
from the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation. A panel of educators, parents and community leaders
selected the four Teachers of the Year from a pool of 86 public school Kohl Teacher Fellows
who were named in spring 2015. Kohl Teacher Fellows are chosen for their ability to inspire
students’ love of learning, instructional innovation and leadership and commitment to

DeLong Middle School will celebrate Respect Week the week of September 14. The school
emphasizes Respect as one of the school’s core values. Staff and students are committed to ensuring
a positive and respectful school environment in which everyone is treated with dignity.
Respect Week will feature a call-in trivia show, classrooms visits by principals and guidance
counselors outlining the Respect Policy and having students sign the Respect Pledge. The week
culminates in an outdoor lunch complete with dancing and students dunking staff in a dunk tank
