Karla Scovell
Karla Scovell was raised in
Townville, Pennsylvania, a very small town
in the northeast corner of the state. Growing up, she enjoyed riding horseback,
watching Bonanza and Gunsmoke, and
dreaming of moving west someday.
After a career in the health field and
raising her three children, Karla and her
husband, Scott moved to South Dakota in
late 2001 for his work and to be near family in Belle Fourche. She began volunteering
at High Plains Western Heritage Center
almost immediately and fell in love with the
history and the volunteers.
She is honored to be part of an
incredible place and to have the opportunity to take the position as Director. She
looks forward to new volunteers to join the
HPWHC family.
