Magic Brush Pottery is bringing back its popular multi-media
class with all new projects! Students will spend 2 weeks sculpting
wet clay, 2 weeks painting pottery, 2 weeks making fused glass,
and 2 weeks painting on canvas. Items will be fired in a kiln and
brought back the following week. All materials are included. This
course is ideal for repeat-students.

Instructor: Tricia Langeleh is the owner of Magic Brush Pottery in
Tewksbury and has taught a course at ASM for 3 years. Her store and
outreach classes are very popular among schools, camps and scout groups.
Painting With The Masters
Children’s House
Spring is in the air! Each week students will learn about a famous
artist who was inspired by springtime. Then, they will create their
own work of art based on the artist’s style. Featured artists may
include Claude Monet, Beatrix Potter and Sandro Botticelli.
Students will be working with a variety of art materials including
paint, so please send your children in appropriate clothing.

Instructor: Mary Ann McArdle has taught children’s art classes for 15 years
in a variety of venues such as St. Michaels School, Essex Arts Center and
Community Group in Lawrence. An accomplished artist, Mary Ann
incorporates a wide variety of materials into her instruction.
Craftmania
Gr ades K-8
Relax and unwind with friends while you learn how to make
unique crafts and keepsakes guaranteed to bring a smile to
your face! Projects may include colorful windchimes, a bird
house/feeder, tie-dyed clothing, polymer clay beads/pins,
sculptures and much more. Projects will be adapted to
accommodate the unique interests and abilities of students in
grades K-8.

Instructor: ASM Art Teacher Andrea West has taught art classes in
Montessori schools for 10 years. She infuses her passion for art and art
history into her classes. Trained in a wide-variety of artistic media,
Andrea actively creates works in watercolor and oil paints and specializes
in creating charcoal portraits of children
and families.
Sewing Club
Grades 2-8
Learn basic hand and machine sewing skills while making a
series of fun, functional, and creative items! In this co-ed
class, featured projects will include a drawstring backpack and
a piece of clothing to be decided on by the students as a
group. Four sewing machines will be provided for students to
share. Classes will be organized so that students who are not
using the machines will be working on hand-sewing
techniques and projects. $12 materials fee is included.

Instructor: Carrie Midura has taught sewing classes for over 25 years and has
recently worked for Andover DCS, Learning Labs at Bancroft School and The
Maker Mill in North Andover. She is passionate about sewing clothing for
everyday wear and creating costumes for imaginative play while teaching others to
do the same.

Children’s House
Do you wonder if you could compete against Katniss from The
Hunger Games or archers of medieval times? This course
introduces traditional recurve archery and the thrill of success
one can experience with a little patience and focus. With safety
demonstrations and unique lessons, students learn proper
shooting form that leads to consistent results and
accuracy. Skill-building games allow for friendly competition
and enjoyment. Enrolled students are eligible to compete in the
annual On the Mark Archery tournament in June.
In this age-appropriate yoga course, children will strengthen
their bodies, improve their flexibility and calm their minds.
Through engaging stories and themes, they will learn basic yoga
poses, while developing their body awareness and building
confidence. New poses and themes each session!

Instructor: On the Mark Archery instructors are certified and insured by
USA Archery and the National Field Archery Association (NFAA).
Safety is the number 1 priority in each session. Lesson plans follow a
unique ‘learn-by-playing’ philosophy that balances key concepts and
techniques of the shot process with developmental aiming games to keep each
class fresh.
Creative Movement
Children’s House
Tap into your imagination and express yourself creatively
through dance! North Andover School of Dance’s preschool
curriculum focuses on building each dancer’s coordination,
listening skills and musical awareness. Using age-appropriate
music, simple stretching exercises, and ballet, jazz and hip hop
basics, an inspirational environment is created that nurtures the
dancer’s developing imagination and creativity. This is a co-ed
class. Ballet or jazz shoes are required.

Instructor: Gabriella Pacheco teaches at North Andover School of Dance.
She is an award-winning dancer with advanced training in ballet, tap,
lyrical, hip hop, modern, and many other styles. Gabby brings much
excitement to each and every class she teaches!

Instructor: Nicole Walker is a certified yoga instructor. Over the past 5
years, she has taught numerous classes for children ranging in ages from 2
to 13 at notable locations such as Home Yoga in Andover and
Wilmington Recreation.
Fencing
Grades 2-5
Featured in films like Star Wars, Shrek and the Princess Bride,
fencing is a great combination of fun and exercise! It teaches
focus, coordination and strategic thinking. In this class,
students will receive skilled instruction in this Olympic sport
from a coach of nearby Vivo Fencing Club. They will practice
footwork, blade work, skills training, fencing games and of
course fencing bouts to test their new skills. Price includes a
required $10 membership to the US Fencing Association
(expires in July 2017).

Instructor: Vivo Fencing Club, located in Wilmington, is widely-known
for its recreational and competitive fencing instruction for all age levels.
Club owner, Arpi Horvath, is a World, European and two-time
NCAA fencing champion.

KIKSTART T-Ball
Children’s House
Friday Soccer
Children’s House
We’re bringing T-ball to ASM! In this fun-filled weekly
program, students will learn the fundamentals of T-ball
including throwing, catching and batting techniques. Speed and
agility will also be stressed as students learn to run the bases
correctly before scoring. Classes will conclude with creative and
exciting T-Ball games for the kids. Indoor activities will be held
on rainy days. No prior experience necessary. Proper footwear
and water bottles are encouraged. Come join the fun with
KIKSTART T-ball!!
Have a blast with Soccer Shots! Their successful, preschool
curriculum emphasizes skill-building as well as positive
character traits like respect, teamwork and appreciation.
Through fun games and positive reinforcement, children will
learn the basic rules of the game as well as how to dribble,
pass and shoot the soccer ball. Sneakers, water bottles and
comfortable clothes are required. On rainy days, class will be
held indoors but students must wear sneakers instead of cleats.

Instructor: Jared Joaquin is the president of KIKSTART and an
enthusiastic coach. He has worked with children ages 2-12 for over 10
years in various sports, yoga and karate. He is also a former professional
athlete for Mass United Soccer.
ASM
Cross-Country/Track Team
Grades 3-8
Does your child have an interest in running? If so, we want
him/her on our team!
Schedule: Practices will take place on Mondays from 3:304:30pm at ASM, starting March 27th. Meets will take place at
schools from the Montessori Athletic Conference (MAC).
Information meeting: There will be an information meeting
for prospective runners and parents on Tuesday, March 14
from 3:15-3:30pm in the middle school.
Registration: To sign up for cross-country/track, please
complete the separate registration forms at the back of
the brochure and submit them, along with a check for
$200. The registration deadline is Tuesday, March 22.

Instructor: Soccer Shots is a curriculum-based soccer program for ages 2-8
that is active in over 5,000 childcare and educational institutions
nationwide. Soccer Shots teaches soccer skills while supporting positive
character development in children.

Play like a pro in KIKSTART Soccer! Join Coach J., former
professional soccer player, in this fun and energetic program.
Children will learn the fundamentals of soccer and improve

Learn the art of theatre! Students will build acting skills through
theatrical games, improvisation and character-creation. They
will collaborate, rehearse and perform a short play for friends
and family during the last class. Students will have a blast in this

for the last 20 years. She is the co-founder of The Fairytale Players

Early theatre education plays a significant role in the
development of self-esteem and self-confidence in young
children which is a foundation for life! STORY STARS
provides our “youngstars” with the opportunity to act out on
stage by incorporating children’s literature into a performance
piece for friends and family. Now on a new day and 2 weeks

Instructor: Acting Out! Theatre Company has been bringing theatre to
the Merrimack Valley region for over 13 years. Dawn Colford holds a
degree in children’s theatre and is one of the company’s premier acting
teachers.
Private Music Lessons
Private music lessons are available at ASM through the
Merrimack Valley Community Music School for voice
and the following instruments: piano, guitar, ukulele,
violin, viola, cello, recorder, flute, clarinet, sax, oboe,
bassoon, trumpet, trombone, French horn, handdrumming, snare and drum set.

Broadway Kids
Ages 4-6
We're bringing the fun and flair of Broadway to ASM! With a
new theme each week, students will immerse themselves in
the singing, dancing, and performing that makes musical
theatre so magical. Your little stars will bring the stage to life
with a small live performance at the end of the session!

Science Club
Age 4 to Grade 1
Explore the exciting world of motion and physics! Construct
gizmos that spin, glide, wobble and whiz…create contraptions
that fling, swing, and collide! We will use a variety of recycled
materials to create our contraptions such as corks, cardboard,
wire, string, tape, clothespins, bottle caps and more. Come join
the fun and let’s get building!
If you missed out on the winter session of Science Club, we are
offering a repeat of the course this spring with the same lessons
and activities! Students will perform fascinating experiments exposing them to multiple facets of modern day science. Experience the exciting world of science first-hand!

Instructor: Karen Ulbin is the assistant director of Kid’s Club at SHED
Children’s Campus in Andover. She facilitates the LEAP program that
provides enrichment to ages 2.5-5. Karen taught preschool for 8 years and
is passionate about science and STEM related curriculum.
Instructor: Afternoon Caregiver and ASM parent Kelley Meade has been
teaching this popular course for 7 years.

BeeBot® Computer Programming
Grades K-4
Ever wanted to learn how to program a robot? Meet BeeBot, a
robot that looks like a cute little bee! During this course,
students will learn how to use the computer to write programs
that send a “virtual” BeeBot through different courses and
missions. Then, they use their knowledge to program the real
BeeBot to do the same thing on the floor. Lessons are given in
an upbeat, supportive atmosphere and are sure to bring lot of
laughs and excitement!

Instructors: TechStars by COMPUTER EXPLORERS uses
curriculum that simplifies the complex world of educational technology by
connecting science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Directors,
Norma Jean and Gary Davis have taught more than 80,000 classes since
1993.
Explore the animal world in close-up under the microscope!
Each week the class will highlight a different bug, microorganism, or tiny animal. Students will learn about the habitat of
the organism, the niche they fill in the ecosystem, and the biology and adaptations of the creature. Your child will also gain
familiarity with different types of microscopes and how they
work.

brochure and return it to the front desk with a check. The
registration deadline is 10am March 10th and classes are
filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Enrichment classes
begin on March 20th and will be held daily from 3:304:30pm. Childcare will be provided between dismissal and
3:30pm. If needed, After School Care is available from 4:306pm for a $15 fee.
After School Care Subscription Discount
If a child is subscribed to After School Care for 3 or more
days per week, the child can receive a discount of $50 on one
Enrichment class (in each Enrichment season) that occurs on
one of the days for which they are subscribed to After
School Care. For example, if a child is subscribed to After
School Care for Mon, Tues, Wed, he or she can have
a discount of $50 on one Enrichment class on either Mon,
Tues, or Wed. There would be no discount for that child in
an Enrichment class that is scheduled for a Thursday.
