USING NOTE CARDS TO ORGANIZE CITATIONS
*The purpose of using note cards is to organize citations so that cited information is accurate and in MLA format.
*Using note cards helps to identify areas of similar research and ultimately helps to organize thoughts before placing them into paper.
*Use the following format to create note cards for your topic.
You will learn how to use a slug and correct cited information to create note cards correctly.

*Slugs are placed in the top left corner as a title or category name about what the subject of the cited information will be. **Each card must have a unique slug. Even if you have more than one note card that talks about bullying statistics , find a way to signify and distinguish each citation separately. This will make it easier for you to find what you need later.

*Put your source citation in the middle of the note card.
Make sure to skip spaces with your citation. Use author and page number if you have it. If not, just use the author. If you do no have an author at all, then use the title of the article or web page in quotation marks within the parenthesis.
*Remember to use correct punctuation with citations. Use quotation marks for direct quotes, and always use a period on the outside of the parenthesis.

On the back of each note card, write down how you can use the citation in your paper as a way to prove your thesis. Think: how would the citation work in your paper? What would it prove? How would you use it and organize it? This is an important step in the planning process.
