The public is invited to attend. Great Pumpkin Party We will be having a Great Pumpkin Party on Monday October 31 from 3:30—4:00 PM. This event is for children Pre-K through 5th grade. There will be games, stories, face painting, and more. We will have a Great Pumpkin Parade downtown beginning at 4:00 PM. Children will have a chance to trick -or-treat at area businesses. Children wishing to trickor-treat will need to have a parent or older sibling with them. Children and adults are encouraged to wear costumes. This event is co-sponsored by the C. E. Weldon Public Library, the University of Tennessee at Martin chapter of S.T.E.A. and the Martin Historic Business District Association. Wednesday mornings @ 10 beginning October 19th in the Children’s Department at C. E. Weldon Public Library Each week we will explore a different theme as we create, experiment, learn, and have FUN! (Because this is a very hands-on program, parents are encouraged to attend) We will still offer “traditional” pre-school story hour and Mommy & Me Tuesday mornings @ 10. Feel free to attend both. View the craft exhibit in the conference room October 1st—14th. Mommy and Me will meet at 10 am every Tuesday. Traditional Preschool Story Hour will also be held on Tuesdays at 10 am. Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead! Preschool Story Hour will meet on Wednesdays at 10 am. Our after school book clubs are a fun way to reinforce literacy skills taught in school. As we meet throughout the year we will read books, discuss the theme for the month, make a craft to take home, and enjoy a snack. Volume X, Issue 10 Page 3 Teen Read Week™ is a national adolescent literacy initiative created by the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA). It began in 1998 and is held annually October. Its purpose is to encourage teens to be regular readers and library users. The following activities are scheduled for all teens grades 6 - 12. Teen Snack Attacks October 10: Teen Gaming 3:30-4:30 pm October 11: Teen Pokemon Go Lure Party 3:30-4:30 pm (A lure will be dropped at 3:30 and at 4:00) October 12: Spooky Desserts and Pumpkin decorating at 3:30-4:30 pm October 13: Character Dress-Up 3:30-4:30 pm October 14: Game On 3:00-5:00 pm November Teen Snack Attack November 22, 6:00 PM We will meet at Burger King to discuss all things Harry Potter. We will then go to Cine theater to watch Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Your movie ticket will be provided. You will need to bring money for supper and any snacks at the movies. Limited space. Registration is required. Deadline to register is November 18, 2016. ***Please register in the Teen section by 5:30 PM the day before the Snack Attack. October Book Discussion Group Selections Let’s Talk About It Book Discussion Group For the month of October the Let’s Talk About It Book Discussion Group will be reading “A Man Called Ove” by Fredrik Backman. We will meet on October 24 at 2 pm to discuss the book. Tween Book Club For the month of October, the newly formed Tween Book Club will be reading “Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief” by Rick Riordan. Disc Golf Park Cost: FREE Gather the family together for a fun autumn outing at the Martin Parks and Rec Disc Golf Park! This is a great addition to your autumn calendar as you will enjoy various reading stations and do activities along the walk. The walk begins at 10 am and is a come and go event. You set the pace!
