STRENGTHENING FAMILIES IN THE SARATOGA COMMUNITY
Saratoga Center for the Family works to strengthen children, families, and our community by reducing the effects of abuse, trauma, and family dysfunction
through advocacy, education and mental health therapy.
Our programs and groups are designed to strengthen, educate and empower participants on how to keep safe and maintain healthy lifestyles.
Programs are delivered through parenting groups, family programs, children's groups and school based prevention programs.
We are pleased to offer the late summer and fall calendar below:

Anger Management (Adults)
This 4-week program is designed to help participants learn to express strong emotions in a healthy, balanced way. The group will evaluate: what anger is, how to recognize things that
make you angry, ways to recognize feelings of anger and how to deal with anger. Group will meet each Wednesday with a new session beginning in September.

Anger Management (Teens)
This 5-week program helps adolescents from grades 8-11 learn how to assess and monitor their anger and develop skills to safely and appropriately express their feelings. Group will meet
each Tuesday with a new session beginning in October. To register for this group, please call Saratoga Springs Public Library at 518-584-7860.
Grief and Loss Group for Parents
Our Loss, Grief and Bereavement Group is a 4-week program for parents who have lost a child. The group goal is to support parents through this difficult experience by providing
supportive services, and offering therapeutic and educational information. The group program allows parents to connect to others coping with loss and offers them the comfort of knowing
they are not alone. Group will meet each Wednesday with a new session beginning in August. Registration is funded by a grant. To register, please call 518-587-8008, ext. 304.
Grief and Loss Group for Children and Parents
Our Child Grief and Loss Group is a 6-week program that provides the opportunity to facilitate healthy mourning through the use of multiple avenues of expression. Various methods will be
used to help facilitate their grieving process such as education on grief, team-building activities, telling their story, dealing with feelings and memories and the use of expressive therapies
(i.e., art, music, poetry etc.). This group is offered to any child between the ages of 5 to 12 years old who have experienced the death of someone significant in their life. Parents will also
meet during this time to learn how to best support a grieving child. Group will meet each Wednesday with a new session beginning in November. Registration is funded by a grant.

Teen Girls Trauma
This 5-week program is open to adolescent girls between the ages of 12 -17 who have been exposed to a range of traumatic experiences, which may include sexual/physical abuse, family
violence, interpersonal violence and or/out of home placement. The Healing Together Program offers a safe and nurturing environment where children with similar experiences are brought
together for an opportunity to feel less isolated, become educated on the impacts and dynamics of trauma, strengthen self esteem, foster a sense of belonging and hope during a time of
crisis, and address distorted belief systems that may exist. Group will meet each Wednesday with a new session beginning in October.

Positive Parenting
This 8-week group will meet weekly and will utilize an evidenced based curriculum. This parenting program is for parents of children between the ages of 4-12 years old with a mental
health diagnosis. This group assists parents or caregivers requiring intensive training in positive parenting or those who wish to learn a variety of parenting skills to apply to multiple
contexts. It employs an active skills training process to help parents acquire new knowledge and skills. Group meets each Monday with a new session beginning in October.

Parenting Group
This 8-week program is designed to meet the needs of parents/caregivers who want to improve their parenting skills, develop child-rearing knowledge and learn and practice the skills
needed to raise healthy, happy children. New groups will begin in August and October. To register, please call 518-587-8008, ext. 304. Registration fee is $20.
Child Custody Stress Prevention
Child Custody Stress Prevention Program works with separating/divorcing parents to focus attention on the needs and development of their children. Striving to prevent more serious social
and emotional harm to children, the program attempts to reduce the conditions that produce stress. The program focuses on the need for stability between separating parents, to more
constructively address custody issues and enhance co-parenting, where it is safe to do so. Group meets on Thursdays with new sessions beginning in September and November.
