Innovative exhaust gas treatment in the agricultural sector
NOx and PM emission control systems for EU stage IV under the hood
World first: SCRi® system for tractors
Optimum fuel consumption and low exhaust pollutant emissions
Combined particulate and NOx reduction integrated in the tractor’s engine bay
Emitec is introducing the first ever SCRi® system for tractors. The company has
developed an innovative, integrated system combination that reduces diesel particulate
and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. The SCRi system has the potential to meet the very
strict emission requirements of the future EU stage IV using modern engines with highpressure injection, turbocharging and adapted exhaust gas recirculation. The system
has already demonstrated its efficiency on the engine test benches at Deutz and Emitec
and reliably met emission targets. The concept makes it possible to design and tune the
engine for optimum fuel efficiency.
At the Agritechnica Emitec will be presenting a complete emission control system that
has been integrated in the engine bay of a Same Deutz Fahr Agrotron 610 with a Deutz
TCD 2012 engine. Driver visibility and machine working range have not been
compromised. SCRi exhaust gas treatment allows engines to be tuned for maximum fuel
efficiency, which reduces consumption by around four percent and helps to recover the
initial cost.
All Emitec components are designed for harsh everyday conditions and long operating
times.
The system uses a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) process to reduce NOx
emissions. Small, precisely adjusted quantities of an aqueous urea solution (AdBlue) are
injected into the exhaust gas and converted to ammonia, which is then used to convert
the nitrogen oxides in the catalyst to form the natural components of air, that is, nitrogen,
water and carbon dioxide.
A continuously operating, maintenance-free PM-METALIT particulate filter is integrated
in the SCRi® system. The filter not only reduces particulates but also uniformly blends
the exhaust gas with the AdBlue and generates ammonia by completely evaporating the
injected solution.

The prepared exhaust gas ensures the optimum operation of the SCR catalyst. The use
of highly efficient, structured Emitec metal catalysts results in a compact design,
allowing the system to be installed in agricultural machinery and tractors.
The SCRi® system is eminently suitable for future serial applications in new tractors and
machinery as well as for retrofit applications.
A complete solution for serial and retrofit applications
Emitec developed a complete AdBlue dosing system for SCR consisting of an AdBlue
tank, a delivery pump, control valve, injection unit and an electronic control system with
associated sensors and pipes. The system can operate autonomously, that is,
independently from the engine management system.
This makes the dosing system also particularly suitable for serial and retrofit
applications.
Emitec is introducing the first production-ready compact SCRi® system for combined PM
and NOx reduction in tractors at booth B66 in hall 013.
