FIELD DAY T-SHIRTS
Run over to Field Day 2017!
Proceeds will benefit your child’s P.E. program. Much of the equipment used
in gym class was made possible by prior t-shirt sales. There is no obligation to
buy, but your child may wear the shirt on Field Day. Why not order one for
Mom and Dad, as well?
Your child has been assigned a team color for Field Day- Blue or White - the
list is posted in each homeroom. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ORDER
THE RIGHT COLOR. If you do not choose to buy a shirt, your child will
need to wear a team color shirt on Field Day.
If you are interested, please fill out the attached form and return it with a
check payable to “St. Philip Neri School” by WEDNESDAY, MAY 17TH.
Families with more than one student who wish to order t-shirts for each, need
only fill out one form for each family. T-shirts will be sent home with the
oldest student.
REMINDER: Field Day for Grades 5-8 - Tuesday, June 13th; Grades 1-4 Wednesday, June 14th.

Back to Basics: a Google Glossary

The ever changing technology field, combined with new concepts in education, create a field that is already packed with acronyms
and abbreviations. It is our hope that this Back to Basics section will help clarify some of the techno-speak that often dominates the
Education Technology field. In our second edition of this three part series we will be focusing purely on all things GSuite!
•
Apps - Google Apps is a set of web applications. The core web apps include Google Email, Google
Calendar, and Google Docs. See also: G-Suite.
•
Chromebook - A laptop that runs an operating system called Chrome OS. (other operating systems
are Windows 10 or Mac OS X)
•
Chromium OS / Chrome OS - It’s the computer code that runs the Google Chrome browser and any
system that runs the Chrome operating system, such as a Chromebook.
•
Android - It is the Google operating system for cell phones and tablets.
•
G-Suite - A collection of Google products that are designed to do computer programs such as typing,
or designing a slide show on the internet cloud. Formerly known as Google Apps for Education. The
following terms are all associated with the G-Suite.

Classroom - A learning management system for schools that aims to simplify creating, distributing
and grading assignments in a paperless way.
•
Dashboard - Lets you manage your personal google account. Think of it as your own personal Admin
Console for all of your own data.
•
Docs - Google’s version of Microsoft WordⓇ
•
Drive - Where all your files are stored in the cloud.
•
Explore - Google search inside of a document, slideshow or sheet.
•
Forms - A survey and quiz tool.
•
Hangouts - Google’s version of SkypeⓇ. A free video conferencing system.
•
Keep - Post-ItⓇ notes for the internet stored on the cloud.
•
Scholar - A collection of scholarly literature across many publishing formats. - A library
•
Sheets - Google’s version of Microsoft ExcelⓇ. A spreadsheet application.

Sites - A great tool for building your own website or portfolio.
