Mrs. Chausse`s Chemistry Gifted Lesson Plan

Mrs. Chausse’s Chemistry Gifted Lesson Plan: Unit 4 Electrons
September 28 – October 7, 2016
Wednesday, September 28, 2016
GLE/Standard: Physical Science 8
Objective: SWBAT accurately diagram electrons in the orbitals according to Schrodinger using
Aufbau’s Principle, the Pauli Exclusion Principle, and Hund’s Rule at 85% accuracy.
Materials: Elmo, periodic table
Lesson plan:
 Do now: Students will draw a Bohr model for two elements and describe what led to Schrodinger’s change in the model based on what they
remember from the previous unit
 Students will take notes on the sublevels of an atom and identify the number of orbitals and electrons in each suborbital.
 Students will take notes on the Aufbau Principle, Pauli Exclusion Principle, and Hund’s Rule to understand electron configuration.
 Students will diagram various elements’ electron configurations using the three rules on the worksheet.
Homework: finish the worksheet
