Dear Parents and Guardians,
The first few months of the year
have flown by so quickly and we
couldn’t have done it without lots of
help. Thank you to everyone who
participated in the Open House, State
Fair Field Trip, Magazine Fundraiser,
Grandparents’ Day, Parent-Teacher
Conferences and Candlelight Dinner.
Also, a special thank you to those who
helped with school cleaning or paid
your $50 cleaning fees. With such great
support, we are indeed blessed at
Howells Community Catholic School.
A special thanks to all the
teachers and staff who have worked so
diligently to make this a great
beginning. In place of the Archdiocese
Fall Conference, a retreat was held on
September 24 at the St. Benedict
Center for the teachers and staff to
spend some time renewing themselves
spiritually, mentally, and physically.
Students and parents worked
hard during our recent Magazine
fundraiser. Thanks to all for raising
$13,134.63! Congratulations to all for
surpassing our goal of $12,500 and
giving the children the opportunity to
participate in the FunFlatables party
this fall. Remember that you can go
online anytime during the school year
and purchase magazines and gifts.
HCCS will still receive 40% of the
purchase price. Shop online all year at
http://www.gaschoolstore.com/. Go to
Shop Now; put in the organization
number 2519213 to bring up Howells
Community Catholic School; and
choose from several magazines or gifts.
Thank you for your support of Howells
Community Catholic School.
Reminders: Terra Nova testing
will take place from September 29 to
October 3 for grades 3-6. We will be
sending information home as soon as
we get the results.
The HCCS Craft Show will be
held on October 18. Hope to see you
there.

A few thoughts on Living the Word of
God: The word trust derives from the
root word for confidence and fidelity,
and also comfort and consolation.
Trust is foundational to life. One of the
ways in which we build trust with
others is by being reliable: if we say we
will do something, we do it. Is there
something that you have been putting
off but want or need to do? Perhaps it
is writing a letter or calling someone.
Or, perhaps it is visiting an older
relative or friend. Maybe there is an
assignment or task that you need to
complete. See if you can think of
something that you have promised but
not yet done, and try to do it this week.
Encourage family members to do the
same. (taken from Celebrating
Sundays for Catholic Families)
