LATE RENAISSANCE PERIOD: SHAKESPEARE’S TAMING OF THE SHREW a. Be familiar with the characters and make sure that you can identify their role in the play. Be able to explain the quotes by identifying the speaker, the situation in which it was said, who it is referring to, and explain the meaning of each quote in your own words. THE RESTORATION AND 18TH CENTURY: “A MODEST PROPOSAL”: Reread this essay found on page 622 of your literature book. Review ALL the reading questions (which can be found on Ms. McKnight’s CHS webpage) for this essay. There will be questions about the plot and literary elements used in this 18th century satire that we read in class previously. Make sure you understand what makes the text an example of satirical literature.
