Shakespeare’s most famous tragedy
The King of Denmark has recently died. His brother, Claudius,

university in Germany, he meets his father’s ghost, who tells him that
Claudius murdered him with poison2. 2) ___ promising to avenge3 his

opportunity to kill Claudius. 4) ___ Hamlet loves his girlfriend Ophelia, he does not take
her into his confidence. 5) ___ , he acts strangely towards her and rejects her 6) ___
convince Claudius that he is mad. 7) ___ , Claudius is afraid and orders two noblemen
to kill Hamlet. 8) ___ they can do this, 9) ___ , Hamlet discovers their intentions and
kills them. Meanwhile, Ophelia has gone mad and kills herself. Her brother, Laertes,
challenges Hamlet to a duel. Claudius wants to be sure that Hamlet will die, so,
10) ___ does he give Laertes a poisoned sword5, but he also prepares a poisoned drink
for Hamlet, 11) ___ Laertes doesn’t manage to kill him. During the fight both men drop6
their swords and Hamlet picks up Laertes’ sword 12) ___ his own and strikes his
opponent7. Laertes dies, but only 13) ___ having given Hamlet a mortal wound8.
Meanwhile, Gertrude unknowingly drinks the poison her husband intended for Hamlet
and dies. 14) ___ Hamlet dies, he kills Claudius.
