LCA Dress Code (Matthew 6:28-34; 1 Corinthians 9:19-23; 1 Peter 3:2-4; 1 Timothy 2:9, 10; James 2:1-5) Lanier Christian Academy’s dress code is intended to honor God and encourage modesty, decency, and propriety. Furthermore, a dress code allows the teacher to focus on academics without wasting precious classroom time. It is expected that students always maintain high standards of modesty and decency. All elements of the dress code should be honored inside the building upon student arrival at school and remain in effect until the end of the school day. Provisions and standards relating to modesty and decency should be respected by the students and are enforceable by the staff anywhere on the campus (inside the building or on the grounds) and at all times. Visible tattoos are not allowed. Piercings are limited to girl’s ears. HAIR, HAIR ACCESSORIES AND HEADWEAR TOPS AND OUTERWEAR PANTS, SHORTS, BELTS SHOES, SOCKS AND LEGGINGS P.E. UNIFORMS (Required grades 6 – 12) SPECIAL EVENTS GIRLS SKORTS, SKIRTS, AND JUMPERS, PETER PAN BLOUSES Color / Style - Hair must be neatly combed or brushed for school. No hair styles that disrupt the learning environment and no hair coloring that can be considered unnatural. Length - Hair should not extend below the eyebrows. Matching Hair Accessories – Optional. Headwear is restricted to outside areas ALL tops - except undershirts - must be purchased from the online store with color, style, and sleeve restrictions including the LCA uniform logo. (http://www.mykidsuniform.com/9.aspx) Shirt-tails must be long enough to remain tucked in when reaching up or bending over. No tight or undersized or oversized shirts. o Undershirt (optional) - May be purchased from any store. Color - Royal blue, black, white or gray. Sleeve - Long or short sleeves. No graphics or words o Sweaters worn in class must be worn with a uniform shirt underneath. o Outerwear worn in class must be worn with a uniform shirt underneath. Supplier - May be purchased from the uniform department at Target, Old Navy, Land’s End, Buckhead Uniform, Wal-Mart or the LCA online school store. Color – Khaki only! Style - Classic or traditional uniform styles. Can be pleated or flat front. No low-rise pants. Must have belt loops. Short Length -No more than 3 inches above the knee. No longer than knee cap Belt required – Must be solid black or brown, stretch or leather with modest buckle. K – 2nd grade only may have elastic waist with no belt loops and no belt Not permitted: Spandex, denim, corduroy, decorations, cargo pants, extra pockets, zip off knees, zip pockets o Shoes - must be fully enclosed or have a back strap around the heel. NO backless shoes or heels higher than 2 inches. o Socks - are optional but may not exceed knee length. Socks may be left to the discretion of principal. o Tights or leggings –can only be worn by girls and must be solid royal blue, black, white, or gray. PE shorts and shirts must be purchased from the LCA online school store. LCA approved spirit wear shirts may also be worn. The spirit of our dress code is to remain in effect for various special events throughout the year. o Dresses should be modest and cannot be strapless. If the dress has spaghetti straps, shoulders must be covered with a sweater or wrap. o Skirt or Dress Minimum Length: no more than 3 inches above the knee. o Shorts minimum length: no more than 3 inches above the knee. Skorts and skirts may be purchased from the uniform department at Target, Old Navy, Land’s End, Buckhead Uniform, Wal-Mart or the LCA online school store provided they are the same style as the online store. Colors – Khaki or Plaid#76 Minimum Length – 3” above the knee. Bloomers are recommended for Skirts. K – 5 girls may wear: Jumpers that are purchased from the online school store are allowed for K-5th Grade. Minimum Length – 3” above the knee and / or white or light blue online Peter Pan blouses. I have read the NGC Dress Code and have discussed it with my child. We understand that the Dress Code has to be self-enforced by all students and parents to be consistently enforced by the school staff. We agree to acquire the necessary articles to abide by this Dress Code. Dress code violations will result in appropriate consequences. Parents will be called to bring appropriate uniform before student can be admitted to class.
