Patterns 1. Large fast circles in the patterns should be within or just to the outside of the end markers 2. Where designated in the pattern for stops to be beyond a marker, the horse should begin his stop after he passes the specified marker. 3. Each pattern is drawn so that the bottom of the page represents the end of the arena entered by contestants and must be run as such. In the event that an arena has only one gate and it is in the exact middle of the side, that side shall represent the right side of the page the pattern is drawn on. 4. All horses will be judged immediately upon entering the arena and judging will cease after the last maneuver. Any fault incurred prior to the commencement of a pattern will be scored according to the rules for judging. 5. Para Reining patterns are to be judged on the quality of Reining maneuvers displayed between the horse and rider and not to be judged on riders disabilities 6. All judges’ decisions are final. 1 Grade 1- Pattern 1 1. Horses may walk or jog to the center of the arena. Horses must walk or stop prior to starting the pattern. Beginning at the center of the arena facing the left wall or fence. 2. Beginning to the left, complete two walk circles, one large fast and one small slow. Stop at center of the arena. Hesitate. 3. Complete two spins to the left. Hesitate. 4. Beginning to the right, complete two walk circles, one large fast and one small slow. Stop at center of the arena. Hesitate. 5. Complete two spins to the right. Hesitate. 6. Begin a walk circle to the left and go outside the end marker. Do not close the circle. Continue the walk or jog down the right side of the arena past the center marker (Gait -walk or jog - must be established by the first cone). Stop and do a right rollback at least twenty feet (six meters) from the wall or fence—no hesitation. Walk off. 7. Continue back around the right side of the arena on the previous circle. Do not close the circle. Walk or jog down the left side of the arena past the center marker (gait -walk or jog- must be established by the first cone), stop and back up at least ten feet (three meters). Hesitate to demonstrate completion of the pattern. 2 Grade 1 - Pattern 2 1. 2. 3. 4. Walk or jog past center of the arena, stop and back up to the center. Complete two spins to the right. Hesitate. Complete two and one quarter spins to the left. Hesitate. Beginning to the right complete 2 circles at the walk, the first large and fast, the second small and slow. 5. Beginning to the left complete 2 circles at the walk, the first large and fast, the second small and slow. 6. Begin a walk circle to the right and go outside the end marker but do not close the circle. Continue down the right side of the arena and walk or jog past the center marker (Gait -walk or jog - must be established by the first cone). Stop and do a left rollback at least twenty feet (six meters) from the wall or fence—no hesitation. Walk off. 7. Continue the walk on the previous circle but do not close the circle. Walk or jog (gait -walk or jog- must be established by the first cone) down the left side of the arena past the center marker, stop. Hesitate to demonstrate completion of the pattern. 3 Grade 1 - Pattern 3 Horses may walk or jog to the center of the arena. Horses must walk or stop prior to starting the pattern. Beginning at the center of the arena facing the left wall or fence. 1. Beginning to the right, complete two circles at the walk – the first small and slow, the second large and fast. 2. Beginning to the left, complete two circles at the walk – the first small and slow, the second large and fast. Stop at the center of the arena. Hesitate. 3. Complete two spins to the right. Hesitate. 4. Complete two spins to the left. Hesitate. 5. Begin a large fast walk circle to the right and go outside the end marker but do not close the circle. Walk or jog straight down the right side of the arena past the center marker. (Gait -walk or jog - must be established by the first cone) Stop and do a left rollback at least twenty feet (six meters) from the wall or fence—no hesitation. Walk off. 6. Continue at the walk around the previous circle but do not close the circle. Walk or jog straight down the left side of the arena past the center marker. (Gait -walk or jog - must be established by the first cone). Stop and do a right rollback at least twenty feet (six meters) from the wall or fence—no hesitation. Walk off. 7. Continue the walk around the previous circle but do not close the circle. Walk or jog (gait -walk or jog- must be established by the first cone) down the right side of the arena past the center marker. Stop and back up at least ten feet (three meters).
