Following the public launch of TEST for GHANA (The Tertiary Education Scholarship Trust for
Ghana) in the summer of 2008, its Trustees are proud to announce that following receipt of almost
1,000 applications, 128 Scholarships have been awarded in January 2009 to bright but needy
students for undergraduate studies at Ghanaian Universities and Polytechnics. The total value of
these awards is in excess of 55,000 Cedis and recipients come from both first year and continuing
students pursuing a wide spectrum of academic subjects. Criteria employed in evaluating the
applications were primarily their financial needs and their academic performance.
Key statistics of the awards granted are as follows:
1. 70% of the Scholarships awarded were for University candidates and 30% for Polytechnics.
2. 56% of the awards went to Scholars from the Northern regions of Ghana, and 44% from the
Southern Regions.
3. Over 50% of the Scholarships were awarded to females.
4. Four Scholarships were awarded to physically handicapped students.
5. 28% of the total awards went to Scholars at UDS, and of these, 69% were females.
6. Within the total, the following named Scholarships were awarded:
