Celebrating success
Carrie Beth Tigges, Assistant Principal
I am so delighted with our students and their continued progress both in and
out of the classroom. This year’s X-treme week for MS/HS students was a HUGE
success! I hope your elementary students enjoyed our “Drop Everything and
______” week. We prayed, danced, exercised, read and then had a movie treat
complete with fresh popped popcorn! We are extremely blessed with faculty
and staff who are willing to go the extra mile for our students! Here are some
highlights of important dates/events.
Scheduling for 2014-15: We will begin meeting individually with MS/HS students
the last week of March to do their individual schedules for next school year. Students will determine if they wish to sign up for AP/Honors/Regular courses as
well as electives and core classes. Copies of schedules will be sent home to parents. If you wish to send preferences or input prior to my meeting with your student, please feel free to email me! Teachers will be providing guidelines for AP
and Honors courses prior to scheduling meetings. I will post them on our web
page for you to read through and determine the best fit with your student prior
to our individual meeting. I will start with rising Seniors and work my way down
to the incoming 6th graders. Students
will leave school this spring knowing
their teachers and courses for next fall!

And a good day to you Royal fans! Our
winter sports have finished their exciting
seasons and we are looking forward to
our spring sports programs. Here are
some highlights from the past few
months…
This is the second year for our MS Dance
Team and the first year for Coach Emily
Goodwin. The ladies have performed at
pep rallies and home and away basketball games! “Having the opportunity to
serve as dance coach for the TFCA Dance
Team has been such a blessing. I am so
proud to see these beautiful young ladies
extending their love for Jesus Christ into
everything that they do, including dance.
All my girls on the team were very dedicated and worked very hard throughout
the season. As a coach it is always rewarding to see your team develop and
flourish in whatever that they do. I wish
them all the best.” --Emily Goodwin,
Dance Team Head Coach
It was great to see our MS Lady Royals in
action on the basketball court. Thank you
girls and first year coach, Billy James.
“The MS girls’ basketball team improved
tremendously throughout the season.
They quickly learned the importance of
paying attention, working hard and doing
the drills correctly. I was extremely proud
of their positive attitudes and eagerness
to learn and develop their skills…”

“...May God receive all the glory for the wins and losses. He blessed the team and he is the reason we play basketball- ALL FOR HIM!” -Billy James, MS Girls’ Basketball Coach
The MS6 boys’ basketball team was coached by Greg Goins, head coach, and Don Farley, assistant coach. Coach Farley shares, “The 6th
grade Royals finished with a 9-4 mark as the season was shortened by several weather-related cancellations. Season highlights included a
rousing double overtime victory at Cornerstone and an equally thrilling come-from-behind win in the rematch at TFCA. Despite a disappointing upset loss to Trinity in the league tournament, this season represented a major step forward and big things are expected from
this group moving forward.” We had such a great response from 5th grade boys that we added a 5th grade team coached by Todd Lester
and Michael Hillyer. This team played games in the Frankfort YMCA league on Saturdays, plus local public school teams.
“This team is one of the most fun teams to coach I have ever had” said Coach Paul Sims of his MS78 boys’ basketball team. “What this
team lacked in experience and size was overshadowed by their determination and attentiveness to improve every single day on the
court. I looked forward to seeing these young boys and working with them in practice.” The MS78 boys season ended with a great showing at the Good Shepherd Tournament, where the team took 3rd place! Congrats Royals!
You could say that the high school boys’ basketball team finished their season strong but that word would not be enough to describe the
year. “The strength of schedule was a hearty challenge for the Royals but these group of 15 young men hung tough and continued to battle their way through the year. The Varsity and Junior Varsity
boys teams ended the season, gaining confidence and momentum as we entered the K.C.S.A.A. Tournament. Four hard-fought
victories later and the Royals won the first State basketball title
in school history – Class 2A Champions of the K.C.S.A.A! Special
congratulations goes to three Royals named to the alltournament team, Cole Blanford, Fr., Josh Rosquist, Fr., and Daniel Cravens, Jr. Daniel was named the M.V.P. of the tournament
for Class 2A boys. Daniel made the North Region all-star team
which competed against the other regions’ All-Star teams.
The TFCA Archery Team had a great tournament at Western Hills
High School. TFCA Elementary Team scored their highest score
with a score of 2608! Congratulations to the four individuals that medaled in the Elementary Division in their Grade Rank: Carson Marshall
scored a finishing 3rd in 5th Grade Boys; Seth Carr scored 244 finishing 4th in 4th Grade Boys; Emilee McCann scored 236, finishing 2nd in
4th Grade Girls; and Sophia Booze 225, finishing 3rd in 4th Grade Girls. Carson Marshall becomes eligible for the State tournament in April.
The TFCA Archery Team will be participating in a Archery tournament at the Twenhofel Middle School in Independence, Ky., on Saturday,
March 29th.
Spring sports are about to begin with Archery [continuing], golf, and soccer. We are thrilled to be starting a HS baseball team this spring
with Patrick Barbour named as head coach and John Cravens as assistant coach. The team is practicing and will play all of their home
games at KSU. John Weldy, our new Assistant Athletic Director, is working with conditioning and scheduling for the team. We look forward to seeing the baseball Royals in action.
A great, big thank you to all our coaches and their families. The sacrifice of time, energy, money, and compassion for the kids on their
teams is greatly appreciated by players, parents and the athletic administration. And thank you moms and dads, families and supporters
of the TFCA teams this year. We could never do all this without you! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Matthew 5:16 “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father
who is in heaven.”
Go Royals!

Preschool
Melissa Gross, Preschool Director
As we end the third quarter of the school year, it is hard to believe that
the school year is almost over. We have had such a great time this year,
made many new friends, and learned so much. We are currently planning
for our Preschool Summer Learning Adventure. This will be our second
year offering a preschool program during the summer. The TFCA Preschool summer program is available to students who have been enrolled
for the 2013-2014 school-year or for those students who are enrolling for
the upcoming school year. Students must be at least 3 years of age and
potty trained. Our preschool summer program is staffed by our preschool
teachers. Each day is structured very similarly to what we do during the
school year but with lots of fun games, crafts, cooking, water fun, and
much more. Registration information can be found on our website.
Upcoming events to remember:
April 17 – Easter Party
May 20 – Beach Day 9-11 a.m.
May 22 – End of Year Program for Preschool 8:30 a.m.
