Organise your life with Bulletin Board and ReelTime Introducing Toshiba LifeSpace Getting organised has never been easier LifeSpace is a simple and elegant tool that helps you organise your day-to-day activities. It consists of two applications: Toshiba Bulletin Board, an easy-to-use organisation tool, and Toshiba ReelTime, a visual representation of your recently used files. They work seamlessly together to create a unique, completely intuitive experience. Toshiba LifeSpace is intriguingly simple – yet it offers almost endless possibilities. With its self-explaining interface, it takes user interaction to a whole new level. Bulletin Board Bulletin Board is a visual organisation tool to manage your day-to-day activities and projects in a fun and creative way. It’s right at the centre of Toshiba LifeSpace – and always available in your taskbar, just a click away. How does it work? It’s completely intuitive. No matter how much experience you have with a computer, you’ll understand the concept right away: • • • • • • • • With one click, you can create a personal Bulletin Board. At first, it’s just an empty space. Simply drag and drop photos, videos, web links, documents and applications to the board. Then move your content on the board anywhere you want. Rotate and re-size everything as you wish – by simply grabbing the corner of an item. Just make a right click on each item to see additional options. Remove any element from the board by simply un-pinning it. Use the drawing tool to write or draw directly on the board. Choose different background colours and text-labels to create a completely personal board. Archive the boards you don’t need at the moment. This way, the program is never cluttered with old ones. Restore them when you need them again. Bulletin Board, though always looking simple and elegant, offers many more features, even for advanced users: You can display file names and paths by simply hovering over an item on your board, rotate items in 15 degree steps by holding the shift button, undo or redo your actions and much more. You can also add some neat little gadgets to your board. They work like mini-programs and can be freely arranged just like everything else on the board: • • • • A clock always comes handy, especially because you can add as many as you want and assign different time zones. Right next to the clock you might want to add a calendar. Use Pin-Its to make quick notes, like telephone numbers. Keep track of your tasks with To Do list. You can add as many items as you want. When you’re done, either delete them or just check them off. If, having added all these gadgets, your board looks a bit cluttered, just press “tile” to neatly align them on the board – or “pile” to gather them all together. It’s so simple – and yet it gives you all the creative freedom you want. That’s why Bulletin Board can be used in many different ways – these are a few examples: • • • It’s a great way to organise your family life. Create a board on your computer at home, label it with your family name and start by adding pictures from the last family vacation. Keep an overview of your projects at work: Create one board for each project. It’s a great way to make quick notes, link important files and bookmark related websites. Plan your next holiday trip. Create one board for tips from your friends, a packing list and all the documents related to the best time of the year. The application also comes with preset boards for you to start using right away. One of them is the Toshiba Board. It conveniently brings together all the information about your system and provides easy access to many useful tools – which makes it an invaluable one-stop-shop. You’ll find: • • • • • • Tips on getting started with your new laptop. Information on your system’s health. Easy access to help, support and additional services. Quick links to useful tools, e.g. to improve performance, etc. Important system messages. Find special offers from Toshiba recommended partners. ReelTime ReelTime is the brain of LifeSpace – or rather its memory. It’s a visual history tool, which makes it quicker than ever to easily find what you’re looking for. Forget clicking through long, intimidating lists of tiny icons. This is how it works: • • • • Open ReelTime with just one click on an icon in your taskbar – no matter what you’re doing. You’ll see a row of recently used files at the bottom of your screen (you can also choose to dock it to the top). The most recent ones are on the left – the further you move to the right, the more time has passed since you’ve last used them. ReelTime automatically lists files once you have used them. It creates a thumbnail, so you always get a preview of the file. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a picture, a video or a document. You can scroll to the right and to the left either with your keyboard or with your mouse. When you found the document you were looking for, you can open it with just one click. If you make a right click, you will get a list of applications to choose from for opening. That’s basically all you need to know. However, just like Bulletin Board, ReelTime has many more features, that make it a really powerful tool to quickly access your files: • • • • You can dynamically adjust the size of ReelTime by just pulling the upper edge of the application up or down. You can filter the files in several ways to even faster find the ones you’re looking for. There are two types of filters: General Filters like “Documents”, “Photos” and “Videos”, and Application Filters, which will show only the files associated to a certain application. ReelTime automatically recognizes the Top 4 most frequently used applications and adds them as filters. The filters can be further adjusted to perfectly suit your needs: You can choose, for example, exactly which file types should appear when you press the “Documents” or “Photos” filters. It’s also possible to clear unwanted items from ReelTime – of course without deleting the actual files. After a while, ReelTime will have collected a vast number of files. To make navigating easier, you can open a calendar and quickly jump to any date you want. www.toshiba.eu/LifeSpace October 2009
