They were all mentally ready for the fast start and race today. They were all tapered off from an easier recovery week. However, I did not put together a great race plan for the meet. We should’ve started out faster. Even though we ran our fastest average of the year, we could’ve ran much faster. Instead of staying conservative that first mile, we should’ve had them push the pace to get better position. The boys did a great job following race strategy. After the first mile, they began pushing but there just wasn’t enough race left. Overall, I thought they did a great job tonight. They stuck to the race plan that we put together. Unfortunately, it didn’t pan out in our favor. We look forward to them racing at a very difficult district next Thursday in Atlantic. Glenwood Lewis Central Shen-Essex Denison-Schleswig Atlantic Harlan Red Oak Kuemper 38 41 69 107 138 168 180 212 1 Meet Comments The JV Boys had the same course prep as the Varsity boys. They did an excellent job sticking to race strategy and it worked out well for them. With their conservative start, they were able to really pick up the pace in the middle part of the race. They did a great job surging around corners and finishing the race. The JV boys had a great year this year. I’m very proud of their season and their results. Hawkeye 10 MS Boys Meet Results Name Place Time Kyler Schulz 7th 12:19 Cole Carlson 9th 12:41 Enrique Ledesma 10th 12:43 Eduardo Vera Nieto 22nd 13:29 Esteban Castellanos 41st 14:36 Angel Vargas 70th 16:00 Meet Comments The MS boys knew that they were in the hunt for the team title. They were well prepared before the race and looked mentally ready. They did a great job getting into position early and working with the packs. I thought they did a great running the tangents today. In course prep, we discussed that they would need to “leave it all on the course.” I firmly believe all of these boys did that tonight. Congratulations on their runner up finish today at conference! Good luck to the boys competing at State this Saturday.
