(AmendmentNo. 2, Page 5, clauseG-1.1) – Insert the following new clause at the end and
renumber the subsequent clause:
‘G-1.2 For Coco-glucosideNon-ionic Surfactants
Anthrone reagent produces green colour on reaction with coco-glucoside non-ionic
surfactant. This method involves determination of nonionic surfactant (coco-glucoside) in
Shampoo by UV spectrophotometry using photometric mode at wavelength 620 nm,Max.’
(AmendmentNo. 2, Page 6, clauseG-2.3) – Substitute the following for the existing:
‘G-2.3Volumetric flasks of capacity 1 litre, 250 ml, 200 ml, 100ml, 50ml, 25ml, 20 ml and
10 ml; volumetric graduated pipettes; Erlenmeyer flask of capacity250 ml, stopper cylinderof
capacity 250 ml and 100 ml; graduated beakers.’
(AmendmentNo. 2, Page 6, clauseG-2.4) – Insert the following at the end:
‘G-2.5 Weighing Balance, least count…..
G-2.6 Sonicator
G-2.7 Water Bath
G-2.8 Stop Watch, least count…..’
(AmendmentNo. 2, Page 7, clauseG-3.8) – Insert the following at the end:
‘G-3.9Sulfuric Acid, technical grade
G-3.10Hydrochloric Acid,technical grade
G-3.11Formic Acid, assay ≥ 98 percent.
G-3.12Anthrone Reagent― Weigh about 0.08 g of anthrone (technical grade) and dissolve
in 100 ml of 80 percentsulphuric acid. Warm the solution on water bath, if required, for
complete dissolution.’
(AmendmentNo. 2, Page 9, clauseG-4.2.8) – Insert the followingnew clause at the end and
renumber subsequent clauses:

volumetric flask. Dissolve and dilute to 200 ml volume with water and mix well.
G-5.3PREPARATION OF SAMPLE SOLUTION
Weigh about 0.8 g of sample into 200 ml volumetric flask. Dissolve and dilute to 200 ml
volume with water and mix well. Sample mass can be adjusted depending upon surfactant
concentration in shampoo formulation.
G-5.4MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE
G-5.4.1Pipette 1.0 ml of standardsolution (G-5.2) and sample solution(G-5.3)into separate
Erlenmeyer flasks of capacity 250 ml.Pipette 1.0 mlhydrochloric acid (G-3.10) and 0.1
mlformic acid (G-3.11)into each Erlenmeyer flask 250 ml. Pipette 8.0 mlanthrone reagent
(G-3.12)into each Erlenmeyer flask 250 ml. Precaution should be taken while adding
anthrone reagent as it causes bubble formation. Place the Erlenmeyer flask on boiling water
bath for 12 min (using stop watch) and allow cooling at room temperature.
G-5.4.2 Prepare a blank by proceeding as at 5.4.1 with 1.0 ml of distilled water.
G-5.4.3Measure absorbance of standard and sample against blank solution at 620 nm and 1.0
cm path length on UV Spectrophotometer.’
