Fifth Third River Bank Run Names New Director and Opens Registration
GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN - November 2, 2015 – Fifth Third Bank officials announce
Open Registration for the 39th annual Fifth Third River Bank Run, which will be held on
Saturday, May 14, 2016. Starting at 9 a.m., November 2nd, runners, walkers, and wheelers
can log on to https://www.53riverbankrun.com/ to register for the largest 25K road race
in the country along with the USA 25km Open Championship, 25K Relay, 25K
Wheelchair/Handcycle, 25K/10K/5K Run Team Competition, 10K & 5K Run, 5K
Community Walk and Junior events for kids ages 5-13.
Fifth Third Bank has also named John Zimmerman, the region’s marketing director,
as the new Race Director for the Fifth Third River Bank Run. Zimmerman said “I’m excited
to step into a role originally held by a former bank marketing director, and race co-founder,
Marty Allen.” “The race has been a wonderful tradition in West Michigan since 1978 and I
encourage everyone to set their goals and start their training for what will be a spectacular
year.”
To help participants prepare for the race, training schedules for the 25K, 10K and 5K run
events will be available both online and in a printed version starting November 18. Fifth
Third River Bank Run officials will be offering training runs the first Saturday of the month,
beginning in December, at the David D. Hunting YMCA. Details on the 39th Annual Fifth

throughout the next several months.
