Credit Cardholders’ Bill of Rights
The Credit Card Accountability,
Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009
(Credit CARD Act) was signed into law in
May by President Obama. It protects
consumers against harmful and often
misleading credit card practices.
As a not for profit financial cooperative,
there’s not much that TopLine needs to
change in order to comply with the new
rules. Our products are always designed
to benefit our members, not to profit from
them— unlike many other credit card
issuers who will be required to make
changes to their credit card offerings.
Institutions offering credit cards must
comply with these rules before
August 20, 2009:
 Card issuers must notify consumers
of changes at least 45 days in advance of
any increase in card fees or increase in the
annual percentage rate (APR).
 Card issuers must mail account
statements at least 21 days before the
payment due date and before accessing
any late payment fees.

Congress recently extended the $250,000
federal share and deposit insurance
through December 31, 2013. Funds will
remain federally insured up to $250,000
by the National Credit Union Administration,
a federal agency backed by full faith of the
United States government.
IRA’s are separately insured up to an
additional $250,000. Plus you can
structure your account ownership to
insure more than $250,000.
