Summary Executive Branch Carries out Laws Summary Judicial branch interprets the Law ● Powers of the supreme court Summary ● ● ● ● ● Explains the reasons for the new government authority based on the people themselves list goals of the new government wanted to form a perfect union insure peace and order The delegates wrote a Preamble to help form a perfect union. The introduction explains the reasons of the new government. Then the preamble lists the goals of the new government. The delegates hoped that the preamble would help them become an example of a perfect state. ● ● ● ● ● house of representatives- serve two year terms, must be at least 25, and citizens for 7 years senate- serve 6 year terms, must be at least 30, citizen for 9 years they both approve separate so one side doesn’t have to much power primary job is to write laws The legislative branch has two sides to spread the power evenly between each side. the house of rep.the primary job of congress is to make laws and anyone in the house or senate can submit a proposal which then goes to the executive branch ● ● ● ● top= President President is elected by electors can run for re-election after 4 year term constitution gives congress power to remove the President the executive branch is in charge of adding or subtracting things from the bill that the legislative branch writes.they are also in charge of electing the President, and removing the President. this section also includes the powers of the President. ● ● ● ● protects the constitution creates smaller courts to support the needs federal courts settle disputes having to do with national laws district court and appellate courts the judicial branch is in charge of the court systems and they interpret the law. They also are in charge of protecting the constitution Checks and Balances between the Branches ● balancing the power of other branches Summary Amendment process changes the constitution ● ● ● the checks and balances was created by the farmers to prevent the government from having to much power. They split the government into three parts and checks and balances keeps it from one having one branch with too much power. ● ● ● ● Summary Federal system connects the Nation and the states ● government ● states ● shared Summary checks-allows one branch to block the actions of another branch divided the government into three parts to limit the power of the government balance- allows each branch of the government to have some role in the actions and powers of the other branches to change the constitution you have to have an amendment to propose an amendment you have to have a vote of 2/3ofboth houses and congress there has been 10000 suggestions for an amendment and only 27 have been aproved to approve the ot ⅔ of the legislative of all the states this section is about changing the amendment and how it i sa very complicated process. First you need to have an idea that is voted and then they can finally change a part of it. ● ● ● ● ● ● government- can print coin money government- controls relations with foreign nations state- powers not given to the national governmentby the constitution are retained by the state shared- raise taxes shared- build roads shared- borrow money there are powers that the national government can do to help the government work like print coins.thew state can do the things that constitution says that they can do and some powers that they can both do and this is what supports the government.
