teach volunteer information - Homeschool

TEACH VOLUNTEER INFORMATION Park Assembly Church is a wonderful facility, one that we are blessed to share on Tuesdays. As members of the body of Christ and in response to the kindness and generosity of the church, our families are asked to ALWAYS leave the building in the same or better condition when we leave. This includes not only the classrooms but the kitchen, gym, hallways, restrooms, and church grounds. Please take initiative and keep things tidy as you use this facility throughout the day. Also, please remain in the areas of the facility designated solely for TEACH Co-‐op. FAMILIES OF TEACH CO-‐OP GOALS: •
Our goal is to leave Park Assembly in the same or better condition than we found it. This may include picking up and disposing of garbage (whether inside or out), cleaning tables and chairs, putting furniture back, sweeping or vacuuming floor, and checking the restrooms to be sure all toilets are flushed and counters wiped dry. FAMILIES OF TEACH CO-‐OP VOLUNTEERING RESPONIBILITY: •
Our volunteer responsibility is to serve our assigned times. In the event you are unable to fulfill it and know of a date you will be gone, please find a replacement by swapping times with other families. This is your responsibility to find a replacement. Please notify Heidi or Tracy after the swap has been made so they can update the schedule. In the event your family has an unexpected emergency or wakes up sick, please make an effort to find a replacement. However, if under these circumstances you are unsuccessful, please notify Heidi or Tracy and they will make necessary arrangements when they arrive at TEACH. This guarantees a successful year for all! 1 VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTIONS: •

This closet is straight ahead at the back corner of the classroom. Arrange 20 chairs around the tables in a half circle manner so that all students may look towards the front of the classroom. These chairs will be taken from the perimeter of the room. Please welcome students to help as well if they are entering the room while you are setting up. 2 o
IEW, 7th+ (9:15 start time): ü Classroom #1. ü Tables may already be in this room, but if not you can find more of the white plastic tables in the closet of the Fireside room. Some may also be in the closet of this room along with chairs. ü Chairs may need to be carted up from the GYM closet on a cart via the elevator. ü Re-‐arrange the tables into a cafeteria style two by two in the back row and then one in front of the left back table. ü Arrange 4 chairs at each table. ü Please roll the two whiteboards out of the closet of this room and place in the front of the classroom for Jan to use. o

From closet in gym, pull out ball rack. Close closet door and place ball rack in front of the closet door so that the children are not able to open the door. NURSERY (9:15-10:15, 10:15-11:15 & 11:15-12:15)
Supervise the children in the nursery; this may include (depending on ages) changing diapers, bathroom assistance, reading, giving snacks, and playing with the children. It is very important that all nursery volunteers find replacements for dates and times they may not be able to fulfill their volunteer duty. Thanks!! •
CLASS HELPERS FOR MAD SCIENCE (2)
Assist with set-‐up of the days’ curricula & supplies and help tutor cleanup. Assist tutor and children during class time when needed. Wipe off tables and boards as needed. •
LUNCH 11:45-12:10, 12:15-12:40
There are two designated lunch time half hours. A monitor is not assigned during these times so it would be of great help that all moms within the lunchroom area pop in if you hear the children’s volume and/or conduct becoming disruptive. LUNCH GUIDELINES: Parents please discuss the following lunch guidelines with your children prior to the first day of Co-‐op and remind them of them throughout the year: •
•
•
•
We encourage each family/child to assist in cleaning and clearing their own lunch. All lunch trash must be disposed of leaving the counters clean. Kitchen countertops need to be wiped down if they become dirty. Kitchen appliances are not to be touched (knobs turned – the oven and stove top are gas so it is important to not turn these which may cause harm to others as well as the equipment) 4 •
END OF DAY TAKE-DOWN (12:15 & 1:45) take down can start as early as 11:15
for some classrooms. Check schedule for class end times.
It is highly encouraged that all students and parents help keep the facility clean, but we ask that you are an extra help in the case further cleaning is necessary. After classes we need to clean up our classroom areas and leave the church nicer than we found it. Please note that clean-‐up in some rooms may begin before the last period ends. o

6 We are grateful to the staff and members of Park Assembly Church who have so graciously allowed us to meet in their building. Please join me in encouraging our children to show the utmost respect for the building and those who are sharing their space with us. We can also make each volunteer position much easier by assisting as needed and going above and beyond what is expected of each family. This includes our common goal as members of TEACH Co-‐op in showing our gratefulness to Park Assembly even if you are not an assigned volunteer: • Our goal is to leave Park Assembly in the same or better condition than we found it. This may include picking up and disposing of garbage (whether inside or out), cleaning tables and chairs, putting furniture back, sweeping or vacuuming floor, and checking the restrooms to be sure all toilets are flushed and counters wiped dry.
