Will there be passers by? Are there any activities or service attendees can try out? Host a Volunteer • • • Invite someone to experience a day working with you Ask them to share their experiences through social media Could you ask someone from your local primary care service to learn more about what you do? Share details of your event in real time and have a record of the event to keep and share Take a look at the social reporter’s handbook Storytelling • • • Encourage people to share lived experience This could be delivered in a presentation, as blog article in your newsletter, on poster to display Consider hosting an event and inviting key people to hear about the real life experience of your service users World Café • • • Attendees can discuss established questions or ideas in a relaxed atmosphere Incorporate refreshments into event Consider mixing up groups to keep discussions fresh Health Walk • • • Mix meeting up with the chance to get outdoors and a way to keep fit Consider partnering up with a local organisation, e.g. could you walk to a local café or place of interest? Remember to consider ability and what route you will take Newsletters and Local Press • • • Promote your event and share details of your event evaluation through local press or relevant newsletters Ask to share an article during Self Management Week Lived experience can be very powerful Talent Exchange • • • Can you host a session to share tips on getting started in a new hobby or showcasing the talents of your service users or staff? Does someone have a great recipe to share or who can help others get started knitting? Take advantage of hidden talents to run an unusual event
