The DuBois Public Library Staff and Trustees would like to welcome the Community of DuBois to the Friends of the Library group. Founded in 1920 by the City of DuBois, the DuBois Public Library offers free and low-cost materials to all residents of the City of DuBois and Sandy Township. The DuBois Public Library houses a collection of over 43,000 items including fiction, nonfiction, audiobooks, DVDs, and magazines for adults, young adults, and children. The DuBois Public Library also provides a collection of special materials including Pennsylvania History, Large-print books, and Parent-Teacher materials on Child Development and Education. Public internet stations and WiFi access are available to everyone. We are in the process of replacing computers, so while we’re low on public internet stations now, we’ll be back to 8 internet computers soon. Also available is a specialized computer station that provides internet access to those with Visual Handicaps. This station includes software that “reads” the screen to the user thus allowing them to access email and online resources. Through our website, cardholders have access to numerous online resources including OverDrive Downloadable eBooks and Audiobooks, TumbleBooks online children’s library of eBooks and videos, PowerLibrary resources provided by the Commonwealth Libraries of Pennsylvania. The DuBois Library also offers educational and entertainment opportunities to area residents of all ages through programs, workshops, special events, and the Summer Reading Program. Storytimes for children of all ages are held regularly throughout the year. In addition, young children are encouraged to join our 1000 Books before Kindergarten program which encourages parents to foster an early love of reading that supports their child’s education for years to come. With helpful, friendly staff, the DuBois Public Library is striving to connect the community through print, digital, and virtual materials, programming, and resources to education, information, and recreation that promote literacy and knowledge at every age. In 2016, the DuBois Public Library added an elevator and ADA approved family restroom in the adult department. The building updates reconfigured the lower entry and the entry into the Children’s Department. The DuBois Library Board of Trustees and the City of DuBois plan on continuing to improve our services and facilities to serve the community in the upcoming years and look to the Friends of the Library to aid us in process. Thank you, Friends, for your support!
