Notes from Leslie...
Here is a thought to ponder…if we didn’t talk about
the weather, our conversations would certainly be shorter
and possibly less interesting! The weather is a common
topic that can be shared between any and all of us, so
there is rarely – if ever - a time when we have nothing to
talk about J
I think the weather had something to do with a

small attendance at the May movie. It was one of the
few sunny, dry days early in the month and people might
have been taking advantage of the outdoors! Sixty-one members watched “Monkey Kingdom”, a
nature documentary about a family of monkeys living in ancient ruins
in the jungles of Sri Lanka (small nation located southeast of India).
With beautiful scenery and excellent footage following the challenges
they face within the hierarchy of the kingdom, this movie was very
educational and a treat to see. Thank you to Kay Kult and David Larsen
for helping with the prize drawings. The $2 prizes were won by Sharon
Greenwood, Richard Schlenker, Richard Lines, Deborah Katt, Rikki
Wulf, Alberta Kinsey, Peggy Hipnar, Evelyn Long, Laurel Lau and Ellen
Whitaker. No $Moneybags$ winners were drawn so the prizes will
be $30 (am) and $20 (pm) for June. We gave special prizes – pretty
Gerbera daisy plants – to four lucky winners in honor of Mother’s Day.
The lucky ladies were Kathy Smith, Deborah Katt, Trudy Truhlsen and
Pat Jorgensen. Congratulations to all winners! The next movie day
will be Wednesday, June 10th, with shows at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Endicott Clay Products Tour
The Savor the Flavors of Europe day tour is on schedule for
Thursday, June 11th. I will share highlights in the next newsletter.
We now have 24 reservations for the Chicago! Chicago! trip, scheduled for August 17-20.
There is still time for you to join this very reasonably priced tour and enjoy a short, fun-filled trip to

Just Added: A new one day tour will take us on a Northeast Nebraska Adventure to the
John G. Neihardt State Historical Site in Bancroft, the Woodland Trails Art Gallery in Winnebago and
Ponca State Park on Wednesday, September 23rd. This will be an interesting, relaxing day trip in
the early days of fall. More information is mentioned in this newsletter and you can call me to make
a reservation.
Our annual Community Shred Day was a HUGE success once again. We gathered over 10,000
pounds of material to shred in Blair and Tekamah in a little under 4 hours! This is a great event that
we enjoy offering to our communities. Thank you for participating.
June is when we honor the men in our lives…sending Happy Father’s Day greetings to all of you
on your special day!
