CHRIST THE KING CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL Durdells Avenue, Kinson, Bournemouth BH11 9EH Tel: 01202 574277 Email: [email protected] Headteacher’s Comments: What a wonderful day we had for our Sport’s Day on Tuesday,it seemed that every one who was able to attend and encourage the children had an enjoyable day, some parents even caught the sun!! Thank you to Mr Smith for organizing the day and to all his helpers. I hope that everyone could see what we aim to achieve with our Playground Fundraising; open space just is not enough for the children, stimulation and activities are essential parts of their play . There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes by the pupils and staff regarding fundraising, so if you have any ideas yourself please let us know, we might be able to use it. Have an enjoyable half term break, we all need to charge our batteries and I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday 7th June. On Thursday May 19th, Year 5 plus those children from Years 3-6 that are learning to play the Flute went to the Lighthouse Theatre for a Schools Concert by the BSO. We had an amazing time. The children had learnt a song and a Body Percussion piece to perform with the Orchestra and were also treated to hear such masterpieces as works by Smetana, Stravinsky and Dvorak. We were lucky enough to have front row seats so had the perfect view of the Orchestra performing “live”. All the children really enjoyed it and were heard to say “It was brilliant” again?” “ “I’m going to ask my Mum to take me to another concert” “Can we go MUCH better than I thought it was going to be!” How lucky we are in Bournemouth to have such a fine orchestra to perform for us. Many thanks to the PFA who generously paid for the coach so that our children didn’t have to pay any money at all. Music Concert On Thursday June 9th we have 4 members of the BSO coming to our school to perform a concert for the whole school. Their concert “Digging up the Bones” will be a Musical History Tour and will feature performances on the Trombone, Post Horn, Didgeridoo and Hosepipe!!! We are sure the children will be fascinated by what they see and hear. Year 2 will be visiting the “Open Door” Club at the Cornerstone Church on Wednesday July 6th. We also hope to arrange a short concert for the Year 2 parents, so they can hear the songs the children are already singing so well. Mrs R Fisher Music Teacher Sports day Tuesday 24th May 2016 First of all, I would like to say a huge thank you to everybody who was involved with the running of sports day. A special thank you goes to our three volunteers; Mr. Reeks, Miss. Mandale, Mr. Allnatt-Small and our Young Sports Leaders who were instrumental in making the day run smoothly. It was a fantastic occasion, made by the remarkable weather and amazing support from parents throughout the day. The school are extremely proud of all children as they participated competitively displaying excellent sportsmanship and effort in all events. We hope that future sports days are as successful and enjoyable for the children as this year. Many thanks for all your support, Mr. Smith The pedometer KS2 challenge! After recently receiving a number of pedometers, Mr. Smith has decided to use them within P.E. lessons to track the amount of steps each pupil takes. At the end of every lesson, the total number of steps will be recorded and after every 3 weeks a prize will be presented to children who have made the most steps and progress (from previous lessons). We hope that this incentive will motivate the children to become more active within P.E. and increase their levels of fitness.
