Chaplain Bohr was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, the son of an
American mother and a Canadian father. He grew up in Nigeria,
where his parents were missionaries with the United Methodist
Church. He graduated “cum laude” from Hillcrest Christian College in
Medicine Hat, Alberta in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion. He
attended Western Evangelical Seminary in Portland, OR where he
was named to “Who’s Who in American Universities and Colleges.”
He graduated with a Masters of Divinity in 1989. He was ordained an
elder in the Evangelical Church of North America in 1991 and served
churches in Saskatchewan and British Columbia.
Chaplain Bohr commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army Reserve as a Chaplain Candidate in
June 1988. He branch transferred to the Chaplain Corps in 1991. His military education includes the
Chaplain Officer Basis Course, the Chaplain Captain Career Course, Strong Bonds Certification, and
Intermediate Level Education – Distance Learning through the Command and General Staff College. He
maintained an “A” average throughout his ILE education.
He recently returned from a deployment to Afghanistan and Kuwait (April 2014) where he served as the
Deputy Command Chaplain (Forward) for the 1st Sustainment Command (Theater), a two-star Command
headquartered at Fort Bragg, NC. In this position he had direct supervisory responsibility for 26
deployed Unit Ministry Teams that provided Religious Support programs for up to 30,000 Service
Members, DA Civilians, and contractors across three distinct theaters of operation within CENTCOM.
The 1st TSC Command Chaplain credited him with restoring the trust of the General and the reputation
of the Chaplain Corps within the Command through his professional leadership and military bearing. His
previous assignments include Commander, 123rd Chaplain Detachment, Tacoma WA; Group Chaplain,
654th Regional Support Group, Tacoma, WA; Battalion Chaplain, 380th CONUS Replacement Center
Battalion, Kirkland, WA; Battalion Chaplain 2-82 Aviation Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg
and Iraq; Individual Mobilization Augmentee Chaplain, 18th Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg, NC.
His military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the
Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the National Defense Service
Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service medal,
and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” Device.
Chaplain Bohr has been married to the former Janice Draheim since 1992, and is the father of two
teenage sons, Joshua and Rylan. He and his family attend the Salvation Army Church in Chilliwack,
British Columbia. He serves as the Chilliwack Salvation Army’s Community Ministries Director, providing
senior administrative leadership to all their ministries including the Food Bank, Emergency Shelter, Soup
Kitchen, Thrift Store, Emergency Disaster Services, Correctional Services, and Addiction Services.
