Serving with Construction Workers Christian Fellowship 929 Fir Street, Longview, WA 98632 www.cwcf.org March 2016 The Newton’s would like to share with you the amazing events of 2015 and give God the glory for the great things that He has done. First of all, I (Joe) would like to share the low and high points of the year. To begin: The Low Point. I had loaded up the RV and tool trailer and departed Longview for the long trip to Riverton, Wyoming, for a construction project. Fifty miles later, I found myself sitting on the side of I-5 watching my tool trailer burn, shutting down half of the north bound traffic. The Spirit challenged me to give thanks for everything (I Thess. 5:18). In the middle of my disaster I worshipped God, knowing without a shadow of doubt He is still in control. Now: The High Point. CWCf sent out letters informing our friends and supporters of the need to replace the trailer. God touched the hearts of many people who gave abundantly toward the purchase of a new trailer to replace the burned one. Funds received exceeded the loss. The new trailer is larger and better equipped to supply tools for construction projects wherever God sends us. Every time I look at the trailer, I am reminded of God’s faithfulness to provide in time of need. Our God is an awesome God! The Lord allowed us to serve four projects during 2015. The year began in Portland, OR, finishing the new ministry center for the American Filipino Christian Church. The building was built in two phases: first the shell of the building was built in 2014; second, the interior was finished in 2015. My wife came and helped me lay ceramic floor tile throughout, making a beautiful fellowship hall and classrooms for the Filipino congregation. Following the Filipino Tile work at project, Sherry and I focused on completing our RV remodel. We had taken a rain-damaged American Filipino Church motor home destined for the scrap yard and completely gutted it and rebuilt it. Until 2015, it was only partially completed. Sherry and I built cabinets and cabinet doors and finished trimming out the RV. Today, it is a BEFORE DINING AFTER KITCHEN BATH LIVING ROOM BEDROOM comfortable and attractive home for us. Thirdly, I returned to Riverton, WY, for phase two of the church remodel and addition. We built a beautiful new entry for a forty-plus year old building. It incorporated Before offices for the pastor and secretary, a large entry foyer with an amazing glass wall facing the street and an oak staircase leading to the main hallway. The exterior is zeromaintenance brick and stucco with painted metal fascia and trim. It is marvelous addition to the facility. Lastly, God sent us to Southern California to Mount Palomar Christian Conference Center to complete a new 150 seat auditorium and dormitory addition. The project was started in 2009 After but had stalled for lack of finances and CWCf Staff & RV’ers for Christ builders. Our whole construction ministry team joined together to jump start @ PCCC the project while we held our ministry Rendezvous. A few of our “Ready Volunteers” stayed behind with me and will work until it is finished. Sherry and I are careful to remember that our praying friends and supporters make it possible for us to continue in this great work. We all share in the joy of sowing into God’s Kingdom wherever the Gospel is preached and lives are being changed. Buildings are not an end in themselves but a means for effective ministry. Only eternity will reveal the impact of these buildings as ministry tools for God’s work. An old hymn speaks our heart: “We’ll work till Jesus comes, we’ll work till Jesus comes, we’ll work till Jesus comes and then be gathered home.” May you be richly blessed in this coming year!
