enersilva partners
Since 2005, year when the Enersilva cooperation project began, we
have been developing, in the six involved regions -Aquitania, Catalonia,
Galicia, Basque Country, Centre and North Portugal- an intense task
of promotion of forest biomass for energetic purposes, especially the
one related to the activity of formation.
Closing the cycle of this activity and in the project final execution
phase, we present the 3rd Enersilva International Seminar Primary
forest biomass and green electricity. In its programme, the two
first panels show the principal results of the international experts
group of the Enersilva project. The third and fourth panels offer the
possibilities of the biomass as a sustainable resource able to produce
electric energy in cutting-edge power stations. Also in these two
panels, it is going to be analysed the technical, economic and politic
conditions that can support the development of this new sector in
the south of Europe.

3rd International Seminar
This Seminar takes place at a key moment as the European Commission
firmly encourages the biomass with new and more ambitious objectives.
Portugal is resolving a tender for the establishment of thirteen biomass
power stations. In Galicia, new projects and initiatives are coming
up and, as well as in the other autonomous regions, the sector
participates actively in order to achieve the establishment of the new
regulatory framework that will control the production of electricity
from renewable energies.
Primary forest
biomass
The content reflects the logic of the Enersilva: the perspective of the
forest owner contrasts with that of the businessmen, that will operate
in the market, and with that of the responsible persons of the relevant
administrations, articulating a discourse that achieves that the
energetic use of the resource is useful for an improvement of the
forests of the south of Europe.
The Seminar is included in the events of the Week of the renewable
energies that takes place in Vigo on 4-10th June, coinciding with the
Congress on renewable energies and environment and with the
Enernova International Exhibition (www.feriaenernova.com). This
contributes to stand out the role of Galicia as a reference place of
the production of renewable energies.
The partners of the Enersilva project are grateful for the support of
all the participant institutions and companies in the Seminar, especially
to the authorities of the EU Interreg III B Sudoe programme that cofinance this project.
