shows and movies in history. Rovi Video IDs are

bi-weekly and delivered via FTP.
Rotten Tomatoes Content
Guide customers with widely used Rotten
Tomatoes movie ratings. With Rotten Tomatoes
Tomatometer™ ratings, your users can find out
if a movie is “fresh” (good, indicated by a red
tomato icon) or “rotten” (bad, indicated by a green
splattered tomato icon) based on reviews by critics.
In addition, customers can see how much general
audiences like a particular film with audience
ratings, represented by popcorn icons. A full bucket
indicates mostly positive reviews, while a spilled
bucket indicates mostly negative reviews.

(Tomatometer)
• The Tomatometer rating provides an overall
percentage rating based on the number of
approved Tomatometer critics who recommend
a certain movie. The percentage rating is
calculated by dividing the number of good Rotten
Tomatoes critical reviews by the total number of
Rotten Tomatoes critical reviews.

Users can quickly determine whether a movie
was generally liked or disliked by critics.
Indicated by a red tomato icon, a “fresh” movie
has achieved a Tomatometer rating of at least
60%. A green splattered tomato icon means a
movie is “rotten,” having a rating lower
than 60%.

Approved Tomatometer critics meet a
set of established standards, mostly from
accredited media outlets and online film

Rotten Tomatoes Audience Ratings
(Popcorn Bucket)
• An overall percentage based on the average star
rating assigned by Rotten Tomatoes users is
applied to give each movie an audience rating.

Popcorn icons – full buckets for movies with an
average of 3.5 stars or higher, spilled buckets for
movies with an average below 3.5 stars – make
it easy for users to see if a movie was generally
liked or disliked by audiences.
A key quality indicator is a “Certified Fresh
Logo,” which is given to theatrical releases
reviewed by 40 or more critics, including five top
critics, achieving a steady Tomatometer rating
of 75% or higher. A film remains Certified Fresh
unless its Tomatometer rating falls below 70%.
