Member School Discount Tickets: Tickets are good for all sets, first round through final site. Each school may purchase up to six discount tickets for $20 each. F.
Complimentary Tickets: Each school that participates in a state championship match will receive the following complimentary tickets: Superintendent, 2; Principal, 2; Athletic Director, 2. 1) The host school is to provide these tickets for all matches prior to the finals site. 2) The OSAA office will provide these tickets at the finals site. Schools may pick up their tickets at the coaches’ meeting or we will place them at the “Will Call” window in the name of the school. Photo ID and a signature will be required to pick up tickets at “Will Call.” No additional passes will be available at the championship site. Coaches may gain admission with their OSAA Gold Card and photo ID. G. Gate Lists: Every person in attendance must have a ticket or a pass in order to enter. Gate lists at home sites in excess of the complimentary ticket allotments mentioned above shall not be used. H. Bus Drivers: Schools are responsible for all bus driver admissions. Passes: ONLY the OSAA Gold Card, OSAA VIP, OSAA Media passes, Volleyball Discount tickets and Volleyball Media passes, which will admit the bearer only with photo ID, are to be honored at any OSAA State Championship event. No school, athletic district, officials association, etc., passes are to be accepted. BANDS: Prohibited due to the number of teams playing at the same time. 7.
CHEERLEADING SQUADS: Complimentary admission will be given to 12 varsity cheerleading members in uniform (plus one advisor) during the session in which their school is playing. Please be reminded that cheerleaders are expected to remain in the designated student seating area during matches. 8.
SPECTATOR CONDUCT AT OSAA SANCTIONED EVENTS (OSAA Handbook, Executive Board Policies)(Revised Winter 2015): In addition to the general expectations included in the OSAA Constitution, Rule 3, that school officials“…shall take all reasonable measures to ensure that the school’s students and supporters maintain a sportsmanlike attitude toward all events…” the following specific expectations regarding spectator conduct at all OSAA sanctioned events, including regular and post season competition, are provided: A. All cheers, comments and actions shall be in direct support of one’s team. No cheers, comments or actions shall be directed at one’s opponent or at contest officials. Some examples of inappropriate conduct or actions that are not permitted are: turning backs, holding up newspapers or jeering at cheerleaders during opposing team introductions; disrespecting players by name, number or position; negative cheers or chants; throwing objects on the floor. B. Spectators are not permitted to have signs or banners (larger than 8 ½ by 11 inches), confetti, balloons or glass containers. “Fathead” type items are considered signs and shall not be larger than 8 ½ by 11 inches. Spectators are required to wear shirts. C.
Spectators are not permitted to have artificial noisemakers. Some examples of artificial noisemakers are Thunder Stix, cowbells, clappers and air horns. D. Spectators shall not be permitted to use vulgar/offensive or racially/culturally insensitive language. Spectators shall not be permitted to engage in any racially / culturally insensitive action. E.

Spectators who fail to comply with Association or site management spectator conduct expectations may be expelled from the contest. STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS – VIDEOTAPING (OSAA Handbook, Executive Board Policies): Any school or spectator may videotape State Championships from the stands, providing they do not obstruct the view of others or require extra space. Use of a tripod in the stands is prohibited for safety reasons. When a school films its own team during a State Championship, the official school representative will be granted the privilege of filming from the press box or other designated area established by the OSAA. NOTE: Videotaping or filming is for private use only. Televising, including live or delayed broadcasts and cable, is prohibited unless a contract is signed with the OSAA. 10. STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS – RADIO, TELEVISION AND INTERNET BROADCASTS (OSAA Handbook, Executive Board Policies) (Revised Fall 2007): The OSAA owns the rights to and coordinates any radio, television and/or Internet broadcasts for state championship events, first round through championship final. Media outlets that wish to broadcast any state championship event must contact the OSAA for permission and/or to negotiate a rights fee well in advance of the event. The OSAA shall contact the host school athletic director if a media outlet has been granted permission to broadcast an early round event. If the OSAA has not contacted the host school athletic director to confirm that permission has been granted, the broadcast shall not be allowed. It shall be the responsibility of the media outlet to make all necessary arrangements with the host school athletic director and to pay for any phone line charges or installation fees for any early round event. WITHDRAWAL FROM STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS (OSAA Handbook, Executive Board Policies) (Revised Fall 2008): By entering participants in a state championship meet, contest or tournament, each member school certifies that, barring injury, illness or unforeseen events, or a withdrawal to avoid violating the religious convictions of team members, the team or individuals representing the school will participate in every game or competition, that is part of that championship event, until the final conclusion of the meet, contest or championship. Any withdrawal or intentional forfeiture for reasons other than those specified shall be considered a sportsmanship violation, and shall be subject to reprimand and/or other penalties as determined by the Executive Board. See Executive Board Policies, “Withdrawal During a Competition” for more information. COACH / TEAM INFORMATION Additional information is available on the OSAA website, http://www.osaa.org/activities GENERAL INFORMATION 1.
STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS – TEAM SIZE (OSAA Handbook, Executive Board Policies) (Revised Fall 2013): A. The following limitations shall apply to replacement players and maximum team sizes for team sport State Championship events, first round through championship final. NOTE: Only players in uniform are allowed to participate in pre‐match warm‐
ups. B. Penalties for excessive team size: Suiting up, warming up, or playing too many players shall be considered a gross act of unsportsmanlike conduct and may be punishable by fines, forfeiture and/or other penalties as determined by the OSAA Executive Board. 1) Volleyball. Team: Replacement of players applies to each match. A player replaced on the roster may be reinstated to the roster in subsequent matches. Maximum in uniform: 6A – 14; All other classifications – 12. 2.
UNIFORMS: The current NFHS rules apply. Please be certain the school uniforms are legal per NFHS rules. 3.
STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS – ADOPTED BALL (OSAA Handbook, Executive Board Policies) (Fall 2010): The OSAA shall require that the officially adopted ball for that sport be used in all state championship contests, first round through final sites. C.
State Championship Contests at Home Sites. 1) Team sports (other than football). a)
Procedure. Officials shall confirm that the game balls provided by the home team are the officially adopted balls (Wilson iCOR – white or multi‐colored). If the home team does not have the officially adopted ball, officials shall inquire if the visiting team has the officially adopted ball, and use them if they are available. If neither team has the officially adopted ball, the contest shall be played and officials shall report the violation by the host school to the OSAA. b) Penalty. If no officially adopted balls are available for use at an OSAA state championship contest, the host school shall be subject to fines, forfeiture and/or other penalties as determined by the OSAA Executive Board. D. State Championship Contests Administered by OSAA Staff. Officially adopted balls (Wilson iCOR – white/blue/silver) shall be provided by OSAA staff administering the contests if needed. FIRST & SECOND ROUNDS 1.
MATCH LOCATIONS, DATES AND TIMES: Refer to brackets for locations and home team designation. Matches are to be played on the dates indicated on the brackets. Schools have the option, by mutual agreement, to change Saturday matches to Friday. If schools cannot mutually agree, the match will remain as scheduled on the OSAA calendar. Match times are by mutual agreement of both participating schools. If schools cannot mutually agree, the OSAA will make the final decision. Schools are to log on to the OSAA website to enter their match time for each playoff round prior to the final site. A location for the match should only be added when the match isn’t being played at the host school’s campus. 2.
OFFICIALS: A. First Round: The host school is to obtain two officials and two line judges from the association that services its home matches. OSAA will pay the officials and line judges through each commissioner. See OSAA Handbook, Executive Board Policy, Officials – Host School Responsibilities for additional information. G:\Volleyball\Forms\6A, 5A Tournament\6a5avbadinfo.docx Page 3 of 6 B. Second Round (6A and 1A only): Two officials and two line judges will be assigned and paid by OSAA through the commissioner. Officials have been instructed to contact the host school AD to reconfirm match times and locations prior to the day of the contest. 3.
MATCH FORMAT: All matches will be best three out of five sets to 25 points, win by two points with no cap. Fifth set will be to 15 points, win by two points with no cap. 4.
STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS ‐ HOME TEAM DESIGNATION (OSAA Handbook, Executive Board Policies) (Revised Fall 2013): During all rounds of each OSAA State Championship bracket, the better ranked team shall be the designated home team. 5.
PRACTICE TIME: Practice time will not be available. A minimum of 30 minutes (shared time) will be allowed prior to a match. CHAMPIONSHIP SITE INFORMATION – Liberty High School 1.
CHAMPIONSHIP SITE: OSAA Championship Office (November 4‐5), Phone: 503.860.7683 2.
COACHES MEETING: November 4 – 5A at 7am, 6A at Noon, Room 222. All participating schools are required to have a representative present. 3.
COACHES’ PACKETS: Packets will be available at the championship site and are to be picked up at the coaches meeting. Each 6A packet will contain 18 participant passes, including coaches and athletic trainer. Each 5A packet will contain 16 participant passes, including coaches and athletic trainer. A. No additional passes will be available at the championship site. Coaches may gain admission with their OSAA Gold Card and photo ID. B. The OSAA does not provide passes for bus drivers. 4.
PARKING AND ENTRANCE: See Campus Map A. Team Parking and Entrance: 1) Team bus drivers will drop off teams and remain parked in the VIP and Team Reserved Southeast Parking Lot (second entrance). 2) Teams will enter the front of the building from this lot. B. Spectator Parking: 1) Spectators are encouraged to utilize campus parking lots over residential/business street parking whenever possible. 2) If you do use street parking, please note all “No Parking” zones on NW Wagon Way and NW Croeni Road. 3) No RV parking is available on the Liberty High School campus. 5.
PRACTICE: Practice time will not be available onsite. A minimum of 10 minutes shared time (4‐4‐2) will be allowed on court prior to match time. Stretching and warm‐up must be done in the upstairs gym, located behind the bleachers. Teams in the first match of a session may stretch on court and balls will be provided 1 hour prior to match time. 6.
ALL MATCHES: Best three of five sets to 25 points, no cap. Set five to 15 points, no cap. All sets, a team must win by two points. 7.
TEAM ROSTERS: A written roster (12 players only for 5A, 14 players only for 6A) shall be submitted 10 minutes prior to each match. Two minutes prior to the first set and one minute prior to subsequent sets, a coach from each team shall submit a written lineup with the numbers for the six starters in proper serving order. 8.
SCORE TABLE STAFFING: The OSAA will provide the Scorer, Timer and Libero Tracker for each match at the finals site (not the first and second rounds). 9.
TOWELS: Towels will not be available or issued at the championship site. 10. COOLERS: The OSAA will provide a cooler at each bench during the State Championship finals. The coolers will contain water and ice. Teams can put other drinks (sports drinks, etc.) in the coolers provided by the OSAA. No other coolers will be allowed on the sidelines. To prevent spills, open cups will not be permitted on the court. Water bottles are permitted. 11. STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS – MEDICAL CHAIN OF COMMAND (OSAA Handbook, Executive Board Policies) (Effective Fall 2012): The OSAA provides an official medical team that consists of State of Oregon registered athletic trainers and/or licensed physicians at state championship events administered by OSAA staff whenever possible. If provided, this OSAA designated medical team shall have final authority on all injury evaluations, participation status and return‐to‐play decisions. 12. ATHLETIC TRAINER: On call at each site. SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD: This award will be presented to the school that displays the best overall sportsmanship both on and off the court. The school, coaches, players, cheerleading squads and spectators are all considered in the judging. A special committee will choose which school is to receive this honor. 14. ADA ACCESSIBLE PARKING: Coming from NW Cornelius Pass Road – A. There are four Accessible Parking slots in the east parking lot (first entrance). B. There are six Accessible Parking slots in the west parking lot (third entrance). 15. SERVICE ANIMALS: Trained guide dogs and service animals assisting guests are welcome at OSAA State Championships. All other animals are prohibited. All service animals must remain on a leash or in a harness, and be in full control of the handler, at all times. Handlers are responsible for any damage or injuries caused by their animals, must properly dispose of waste in appropriate containers and must take appropriate precautions to prevent property damage or injury. 16. LOST AND FOUND: During the event, Lost & Found will be at the OSAA Event Office or other location designated by the host facility / OSAA Staff. Beginning the first business day after the event, please email [email protected] to claim any missing items. 17. AWARDS: Team trophies will be presented at the conclusion of each trophy match on Saturday. The sportsmanship award, all‐
tournament team recognition, second place and championship trophies and medals and championship bracket board will be presented at the conclusion of each classification’s final match Saturday evening. A. Trophies: Champion through sixth place trophies will be presented to the top teams in each classification. B. Medals: Fifteen medals will be presented to both the champion and second place teams in 5A, 17 for 6A teams. C.
U.S. Bank/Les Schwab Tires All‐Tournament Teams: Medals will be presented to members of the All‐Tournament 1st and 2nd Teams in each classification (six members on each team). D. Moda Health Player of the Match: One player from each team in each classification’s championship final match will be recognized as that team’s Moda Health Player of the Game. The winners will be announced over the PA at the conclusion of each classification’s championship final match. A certificate and commemorative gift from Moda Health will be mailed to the student’s athletic director shortly after the event. 18.
