o Choose one of the adventures/trials of Odysseus from Books 9-12 based on your notes in the
grid on the other side of this sheet.
o Write a very brief (250-500 word) essay in which you compare an adventure or trial from your
life with one of those Odysseus survives in books 9-12 of the Odyssey.
o Introduce the essay with action, in the middle of things (in medias res), like the Odyssey
o Use descriptive detail especially when writing about your experience.
o Do not summarize the whole adventure Odysseus had, but make the specific connections and
comparisons from the Odyssey to your account of your adventure or trial.
o Conclude with a statement of what you and Odysseus learned in general about such
situations and how to handle them.
o Your essay should be typed and double-spaced.
