Just another week in your calendar
Palm Sunday is the start of the holiest of weeks. The Liturgy
invites us not only to reflect on the last days and hours of our
Lord’s ministry, but it also invites us to walk with Jesus. What
does this mean? It simply means that we go deeper into the
celebrations by living with our hearts each step of the passion.
For example, today we will read the triumphant entry of Jesus
into Jerusalem; picture yourself being there, which group you
would be at that moment, a believer or passer-by? Were you
shouting with the people “Blessed is He who comes in the
name of the Lord!? Place yourself into the story.
Don’t let Holy Week be just another week in your calendar,
but let it remind you of God’s great love for your demonstrated in Jesus’ passion, death and resurrection. He suffered all
the insults and beatings for you, because he loves you; because he knew that he must die in order to destroy death; he
must suffer in order to bring us into the Kingdom of Heaven.
Every year during this holiest of weeks, I usually meditate on a
phrase that hangs in my living-room, which says “It was not
the nails that held Jesus on the cross, but his love for you and
me”. I invite you to do the same, meditate on God’s unconditional love for you this Holy Week and I assure you this week
will not be just another week in your calendar

Simplemente una semana más en tu calendario
El Domingo de Ramos es el comienzo de la semana más santa
del año. La liturgia nos invita no sólo a reflexionar sobre los
últimos días y horas del ministerio de nuestro Señor, sino que
también nos invita a caminar con Jesús. ¿Qué significa esto?
Simplemente significa que profundicemos en las celebraciones
y vivir con el corazón cada paso de la pasión de Jesús. Por
ejemplo, hoy vamos a leer la entrada triunfal de Jesús a Jerusalén; imagínese estar ahí, a que grupo pertenecerías en ese
momento, un creyente o un transeúnte? ¿Estabas gritando
con el pueblo "Bendito el que viene en nombre del Señor! con
el resto del pueblo? Colócate dentro de la historia.
No dejes que la Semana Santa sea solamente otra semana más
en tu calendario, pero deja que te recuerde el gran amor de
Dios por ti demostrada en la pasión, la muerte y la resurrección de Jesús. El sufrió todos los insultos y golpes por ti, porque te ama; porque sabía que debía morir con el fin de destruir a la muerte; que tenía que sufrir con el fin de llevarnos al
reino de los cielos.
Cada año durante la Semana Santa, yo generalmente medito
en una frase que cuelga en mi sala, que dice "No fueron los
clavos que sujetaban a Jesús en la cruz, sino su amor por ti y
por mí". Les invito a hacer lo mismo, mediten en esta Semana
Santa en el amor incondicional de Dios por cada uno de ustedes y les aseguro esta semana no será simplemente una semana más en su calendario.
