All: Two households
Jay: Both alike in dignity,
Sahana: In fair Verona
Claire: Where we lay our scene,
Rosa: From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
All: Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
Sahana marches off
Jay: Do you bite your thumb at me sir?
Claire: You Montagues smell.
Rosa: YEAH!
Jay: You make me sick.
Rosa: How rude.
Draw weapons as Sahana marches on
Sahana: Rebellious subjects! When will you families stop fighting? If
this happens again…
All mime head being chopped off. Rosa and Sahana march off.
Claire sits down and sighs
Jay: Good morrow cousin.
Claire: There’s nothing good about it.
Jay: Is this about Rosaline?
Claire: Don’t mention her.
Jay: In love?
Claire: Out.
Jay: Of love?
Claire: Out of her favour.
Rosa runs in.
Rosa: Come on, we’ve got a party to go to!!
Claire: A party?
Jay: We’re crashing the Capulets party!
Party scene
Rosa: Forswear it, sight! For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night.
Sahana: Oh you flirt.
Jay: By his voice, that’s a Montague!
Claire: Stop fighting, it’s a party!
Sahana: We have so much in common.
Rosa: Will I ever see you again?
Sahana: I’ll ask my mum.
Rosa: Who’s your mum?
Sahana: Lady Capulet.
All gasp and face audience.
Rosa: You’re a Capulet?!
Sahana: You’re a Montague?!
Jay: Stay away from my cousin! Fake punch
Claire: You weren’t invited, get out!
Claire and Sahana make the balcony
Jay: Will I ever see her again? But soft! What light through yonder
window breaks?
Rosa: O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy
father and refuse thy name.
Jay: She likes me, she really likes me.
Rosa: O, be some other name! What’s in a name?
Sahana: Gosh, now soppy.
Jay: Hi.
Rosa: Hi
Jay: So
Rosa: So what?
Jay: Oh Juliet, marry me!!
Rosa: Yes (whispers) yes I will!
Claire: Bit fast.
Sahana: She’s only 13.
Claire: I do
Sahana: I do
Jay and Rosa: I now pronounce you man and wife.
Claire: My family can’t know about this. I have to go.
Claire leaves.
Tybalt: Oi, Romeo, what were you doing with my cousin?
Mercutio: Tybalt, you rat-catcher, will you walk?
Romeo: No, its banned - Hold, Tybalt! good Mercutio!
Mercutio: I am hurt. A plague o' both your houses!
Romeo kills Tybalt
Claire: What’s going on?!
Sahana: He started it.
Claire: Romeo, you are banished from the city. Get out of my town!
Jay: So Romeo iwas banished.
Claire: Juliet was very upset.
Sahana: She made a plan to fake her own death.
Rosa: It wasn’t really logical. But then again, 13 year olds aren’t.
Claire: The Friar wrote to Romeo, explaning the plan.
Jay: But the Friar had really bad handwriting.
Rosa: Please could you open your letter under the seat?
Sahana: What does this say? Dear Romeo, Juliet is, I can’t read this,
is dead!? This is the worst. I have to go back.
Make tomb.
Clare: Romeo snuck back into the city
Jay: Here lies Juliet, and her beauty makes this vault a feasting
presence full of light. O true apothecary! Thy drugs are quick. Thus
with a kiss I die.
Rosa: This was such a good plan! Romeo? Why are you so cold?! I
can’t live, if living is without you! Oh happy dagger, I am thy sheaf,
let me die.
Claire: Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Sahana: Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
All: For never was a story of more woe/Than this of Juliet and her
Romeo
