hassle-free way, using our VISA Debit/ATM card. Pay
for purchases directly from your Checking account.
You can even use your VISA Debit/ATM card to
withdraw cash at any ATM machine displaying the
VISA logo.
Surcharge free machines include: Genesee Valley
FCU, Five Star Bank, ESL, Summit, Evergreen, St.
Pius, Tonawanda Valley FCU, and Teachers Union
(NYC area).
In this Agreement and Disclosure Statement, the words “you” and “your”
mean each and all of those who agree to be bound by this “agreement”;
“card” means the SUNY Geneseo Federal Credit Union debit card and any
duplicates, renewals, or substitutions the Credit Union issues to you,
“account” means the account designated on the application for your debit
card; “Credit Union” means the Credit Union whose name appears on the
agreement or anyone whom the Credit Union transfers the agreement, and
“transaction” means the use of the account number on the card, Personal
Identification Number (PIN), or signature when required, to perform a
transaction with the card.
1. Issuance of card: You have requested the Credit Union issue you a
card that can be used to access funds in your Checking account. The
Credit Union will issue you a PIN number that must be used with the card
for transactions that require use of a PIN. Do not reveal your PIN number
to anyone else or write it down where it is available to others.
2. Responsibility for transactions: You are responsible for all
transactions you make with the card or that you authorize another
person to make with the card. If the account a joint account, all
transactions involving the account are binding on all account holders.
Section 11 below tells about your responsibility for unauthorized
transactions.
3. Use of the card, you may use the card and PIN to:

Replacement debit cards will be charged a $25.00 fee
for each card replaced and a $10.00 fee for each pin
reminder.
Rush replacement of cards and PINs will be charged an
additional $30.00.
Debit cards that are not activated or used within 60
days will be closed and closed debit cards that are
reopened will be subject to a $25.00 fee.
Excess ATM withdrawals, more than 2 monthly, will
be charged a fee of $1.00 per transaction.
Early closure of a Savings and/or Checking account
within 6 months of opening will result in a debit of
$25.00 each.
Withdraw cash from your account at ATMs,
merchants or financial institutions that accept
VISA cards. You may use the card without the
PIN to:
Purchase goods or services at places that accept
VISA cards (these are Point Of Sales or POS
transactions), or goods or services by mail,
online, or telephone from places that accept
VISA cards.
Make automatic payments from your account to
pay bills or other charges, providing that the
person or organization that you are paying
agrees to accept payments this way.
You may not use the card for any illegal or
unlawful transactions, and we may decline to
authorize any transaction that we believe poses
an undue risk of illegality or unlawfulness.
You may process the transaction as a Debit or Credit. A debit (for online
usage) requires a PIN number. A credit (for POS purchases) requires a
signature. Use of the card, the account number on the card, the PIN or
any combination of the three for payment, purchases, or to combination of
the three for payment, purchases, or to obtain cash from merchants,
financial institutions or others who honor VISA cards is in order by you
for the withdrawal of the amount of the transaction from your account.
Each transaction with the card will be charged to your account on the date
the transaction is posted to your account. Future changes to the account
may affect card use.
4. Replacement cards: The member shall pay a $25.00 replacement
card fee for each card replaced. Members shall pay $10.00 for PIN
reminders. The Credit Union reserves the right to cancel or refuse to
reissue a card due to lack of use or abuse. Member is responsible for all
fees associated with Lost/Stolen/Reopening Debit cards (fees vary).
5. Overdrafts: You agree to reimburse the Credit Union immediately
upon demand for any negative (overdraft) balance arising in your account.
The Credit Union may deduct the amount of any overdraft on your
account from any other account you have with the Credit Union. There is
a service charge fee of $25.00 for each overdraft that will be automatically
deducted from your account.
6. Limitations on dollar amounts and frequencies of
transactions: The following limitations apply to the use of the card.
You may make withdrawals up to the amount in your share draft
account, but not to exceed $500 per day at ATMs, $1500 POS daily
transactions, and a limit of 11 daily transactions.
7. Charges for transactions from the Credit Union: There are
no annual fees. Monthly, members receive two free ATM withdrawals
on our surcharge free machines. Any ATM transactions thereafter will
be charged a $1.00 Credit Union fee. All transactions processed On
ATM machines other than those specified by the Credit Union will be
subject to a machine charge. The Credit Union reserves the right to
close a Debit/ATM card without notice on accounts with three or more
insufficient funds transactions. There is a $25.00 fee to reissue the
card. There are a maximum of 11 transactions daily and a maximum
daily spending limit of $1500.00 Point of Sale and $500.00 ATM.
Debit/ATM cards must be activated and used within 60 days after it is
issued to prevent a surcharge fee of 425.00. The Credit Union reserves
the right to deny any Checking/Debit/ATM card request. Failure to
respond to communication attempts from VISA or the Credit Union
regarding possible fraud will result in termination of the card. A fee of
$25.00 will be charged to reissue/reinstate the card.
8. Right to receive documentation of transaction: You will
receive a receipt at the time that you make any transfer to or from your
account using an ATM or point of sale terminal. A monthly statement
is sent showing the transactions made.
9. Business days: The business days of the Credit Union are :
Monday thru Friday, 9:00 am to 4:30 pm except holidays.
10. Disclosure of account information to third parties: The
Credit Union will disclose information to third parties about your
account or the transactions you make:

In order to verify the existence and condition of your
account for a third party such as a credit bureau or
merchant; or
In order to comply with government agencies or court
orders; or
If you give us your written permission
11. Liability for unauthorized transactions: Notify the Credit
Union at once if you believe your card has been lost or stolen. You are
responsible for a minimum of $50.00 in fraudulent transactions.
Telephoning is the best way of keeping your possible loses down.
Also, if your statement shows transfers that you did not make, notify
the Credit Union within 60 days of notification of your statement
availability, you may not get back any money you lost after the 60 days
if the Credit Union can prove that it could have stopped someone from
taking money if you had notified in time. If a good reason ( such as
hospital stay) kept you from notifying the Credit Union, the time
periods may be extended.
12. How to notify the Credit Union in the event of an
unauthorized transaction: If you believe the card or PIN has been
lost or stolen or that someone has transferred or may transfer money
from your account without your permission, call (585) 245-5700 during
business hours, or contact VISA 24/7 at 1-800-453-5073.
13. Authorized transaction dispute: you must notify the Credit
Union within 60 days of the transaction posting to the account. You
may not get any money back after the 60 days.
14. Statements and notices: If you have set up in advance to have
regular payments made from your account, you can stop any of these
payments. Contact the merchant to request a stop payment. If that is
unsuccessful, contact the Credit Union. We must receive written
request to place a stop payment. Stop payments are in effect for 6
months.

15. Liability for failure to stop payment of preauthorized
transfers: If you order the Credit Union to stop one of these payments

17. Refusal to honor card: The Credit Union is not liable for the

If your account is subject to legal process other than
claim;
If you use a damaged or expired access device or an
access device that has been reported lost or stolen;
If the Credit Union believes that something is wrong,
for example, that your card has been stolen;
For preauthorized transfers, if through no fault of the
Credit Union, the payment information for a
preauthorized transfer is not received.
19. Rules of account: All transactions covered by this agreement are
also subject to all rules and agreements that govern the account(s) being
debited or credited in connection with a transaction, except as modified
by this agreement.
20. Foreign transaction: Transactions that are initiated in foreign
countries and foreign currencies will be charged to your account in U.S.
dollars. The conversion rate to dollars will be at:
A) The wholesale market rate, or;
B) The government mandated rate, whichever is
applicable, in effect one (1) day prior to the
processing date, increased by one percent (1%)
21. Effect of agreement: Even though the sales, cash advances, or
other slips that you sign or receive when using the credit card or the
account number on the card may contain different terms, this agreement
is the sole agreement that applies to all transactions involving the card.
22. Additional benefits/card enhancements: The credit Union
may from time to time offer additional services to your account. Some
may be at no additional cost to you and other may involve a specified
fee. You understand that the Credit Union is not obligated to offer such
services and may withdraw or change them at any time.
26. Statements and notices: Statements and notices will be sent to you
at the most recent address you have given the Credit Union. Notices sent
to any one of you will be considered notice sent to all.

sues you to enforce this agreement. This agreement is binding upon your
heirs, personal representatives and successors, and if more than one,
jointly and severally.
28. Signatures: By signing in the signature area of the application form
you received, you agree to the terms of this agreement. You should retain
this agreement for your records.

Billing Rights Notice: In case of errors or questions about your card,
telephone us at (585) 245-5700, or write us at SUNY Geneseo Federal
Credit Union, 1 College Circle, MacVittie College Union 111, PO Box
114, Geneseo, NY 14454 immediately if you think your statement or
receipt is incorrect, or if you need more information about a transaction
listed on the statement or receipt. We must hear from you no later than 60
days after we sent the FIRST statement on which the problem or error
appeared.

Tell us your name and account number.
Describe the error or the transaction you are unsure about,
and explain as clearly as you can why you believe it is in
error, or why you need more information.
Tell us the dollar amount of the suspected error. If you tell us
orally, we require that you send us your complaint or question
in writing within ten (10) business days.
We will tell you the results of our investigation within ten (10) business
days (20 business days for POS transactions, or if the transaction is
initiated outside the United States) after we hear from you, we will
investigate and correct any error promptly. If we need more time,
however, we may take up to forty-five (45) days (90 days POS
transactions, or if the transaction is initiated outside of the United States)
to investigate your complaint or question. If we decide to do this, we will
re-credit your account within ten (10) business days (20 business days for
POS transactions, or if the transaction was initiated outside of the United
States) for the amount you believe is in error, so that you will have use of
the money during the time it takes us to complete our investigation. If we
ask you to put your complaint or question in writing and we do not receive
it within ten (10) business days, we may not re-credit your account.
If we decide that there was no error, we will send you a written
explanation within three (3) business days after we finish our
investigation. You may ask for copies of the documents that we used in
our investigation.
