Dear parents and carers
A well-deserved half term is upon
us after lots of fabulous learning.
This has included lots of exploring
money, amazing home learning
about different countries,
wonderful maths discussions,
problem solving with fractions,
shape challenges and newspaper
articles.
Samba drumming
Daniel Gilmore from Sussex
Music Workshops led some
fantastic drumming with KS2
children last Friday. A powerful
rhythmic performance to parents
finished the fun afternoon.
Many thanks to the Friends of
Bolney for funding this.

House Team Charities
On Wednesday 15th February the
children could bring in a £1 to
wear a woolly hat for the day.
This was for the chosen charity of
Petworth house - Off The Fence who support homeless people.
The day was well supported with
a huge variety of hats being worn.
Well done to Petworth house for
raising a fantastic £136.27
Please look at the work of Off The
Fence on their website:

children’s hospice. They will be
Our children are welcome to
dress as a book character on that
day (this need not cost you oodles
in time or money!) and bring in a
favourite book to share. There is
not a specific theme this year but
please use web links if you and
your children need inspiration for
costumes.
We will be getting ‘booky’ across
the school and children will be
bringing home their £1 book
tokens to exchange for this year’s
chosen books.

Help needed Home School Agreement
We are reviewing the Home
School Agreement and would
very much like to work with a
small group of parents on this.
Help needed Travel Group
We would also like to set up a
travel group to look at parking and
the travel plan.
Help needed –
Playground coverings
We need help spreading rubber
chippings over the play area at
the back of the school on
Saturday 4th March from 10.30. If
you have a spare hour or more
your muscle power, spades and
wheelbarrows will be very
welcome.
If you are interested in any of
these please let Zoe know.
Keeping your child safe online
We had a very informative Safer
Internet Day last week. We talk
lots in school about staying safe
when using computers. However
there are new things coming out
all the time to entice children
online and we need to know they
are safe.
We have an online safety
workshop for parents on Tuesday
28th February at 3.15 run by Jill
Allen, the anti-bullying and esafety co-ordinator for Salus.
Children can stay with a member
of staff while you attend this. The
children will work with Jill during
the afternoon on staying safe.
Please do come there is so much
to find out about.
Our Christian Values
In worship next half term we will
be exploring honesty, being
honest with ourselves as well as
with others. Please ask the
children to share what we talk
about.
Please keep a look out
Sue Ayres from St Mary
Magdalene has asked if you can
keep a look out if you walk
through the churchyard please. It
seems that the organ pedals in
the church are being tampered
with!
Sports - Netball
Our team have been working hard
on further developing their netball
skills and good team work. They
have shown great resilience both
in training and in matches. On
Tuesday they played really well
and won their first match. Here is
the report from Edward and Harry:
On Tuesday 14th February 2017
the netball team went to the
Triangle to play two netball
matches.
Our first match was against St
Peters and we all played
exceptionally well and we won 110 with goals from Anna, Grace,
Holly and Harry.
We then played Balcombe and
despite our 11-0 victory we
disappointingly lost 14-0. Our
defending was very good in this
game despite their victory.
Perseverance was needed
throughout the tournament. The
whole team showed our school
values throughout the whole
tournament.
Our player of the tournament for
this game was for excellent
communication and teamwork
was Faith
Throughout the tournament we all
played really well so we would like
to say a big thank you to the
parents for taking us and Miss
Leggett for coaching us.
