Letter to the editor speaks well of
our agency
By Sheriff Rick Ramsay
As we watch what is occurring around the
nation with protests against police it is nice
to see locals supporting our agency and our
operations.
I was so proud and happy to read the
letter to the editor sent to several local publications by the American Legion openly supporting the Monroe County
Sheriff’s Office and our
deputies.
The letter speaks volumes about why we share
such wide spread support
from our community. It is clear they feel we
are doing a great job of
providing the Florida Keys
with professional law enforcement services as well
as contributing to positive
and effective partnerships with our community policing and quality of life efforts.
I believe we have had a positive impact in
many areas: reducing crime, improving quality of life and contributing to a cleaner, safer
community.
Thank you all so much for being a part of
this wonderful team.
Message from the Monroe County
Benefits Office
The Employee Benefits Team greatly appreciates your support and cooperation during the recent
open enrollment period. With the vast amount of
data exchanged, errors are not only possible, but
probable. Please review your paystubs for correctness;
especially the first and second paystubs of the year. Should you have a concern or question about a benefits deduction, please contact the Employee Benefits Office. We will check the deductions and work
with you to resolve any benefit deduction issues.

We take your dental insurance
Dr. Tycoliz and the staff of Summerland Dental
would like to let you know that we are IN-NETWORK
providers for United Concordia Dental Insurance.
It was brought to our attention that a few dentist in
town that were accepting this insurance have opted
out of the network and employees were given the
option to change plans or find a new dentist. We are
also in network with the following insurance companies if you did switch and are looking for a great
dentist as well. Aetna, BCBSFL (Florida Combined
Life), Cigna, Delta & MetLife.
We are accepting new patients and look forward
to meeting your dental needs. Give our office a call
(305) 745-1522 and schedule your appointment
today.
Thank you and looking forward to meeting new
faces in 2015!

Congratulations to Alvarez Rice who was promoted this
week to sergeant at the Monroe County Detention Center
on Stock Island. Here she is with Sheriff Rick Ramsay and
Major Tommy Taylor.
Sgt. Trevor Wirth got to see a positive side
of law enforcement when he responded to a
medical call to find this little guy just coming
in to the world. As Deputy Boyd Williams so
eloquently put it, “too many times in our job
we see the end of a life. On that rare occasion
we’re there for the start of one.”
Reserve Capt. Ted Migala was NOT having a good day Tuesday when
he locked his keys in the car while responding to back up deputies at a
fight scene in Tavernier.
