W. L. Bonner College “Celebrating 20 Years of Equipping and Training” As the W. L. Bonner College (WLBC) family makes final plans for Homecoming / Founder’s Day 2015, we invite you to share in this great celebration and commemoration. Though great emphasis will be placed on “Celebration”, focused plans will be geared to “Preservation.” To ascertain higher levels of institutional effectiveness, leaders must always acknowledge current realities, assess institutional performance with truthfulness and honesty, and attend to the weaknesses, while they benchmark strengths. Throughout Homecoming / Founder's Day 2015, in addition to celebrating past achievements, we will be highlighting a theme that will be communicated to all stakeholders over the next few years: “A Biblical Plan for Sustainability." There were many resources that were poured into this "Twenty-Year Legacy." Certainly, finances were essential and necessary; however, the gifts, talents, and time devoted by stakeholders, often surpassed financial giving. All institutional stakeholders (Students, Alumni, Administration and Staff, Faculty, Governance, Church and Community Leaders, along with Institutional Partners and Supporters) will be fully engaged in the assessment and planning initiatives. As a family and institution, we will continually point out principles, referencing the Book of Nehemiah (Nehemiah Chapters 1-11). Nehemiah, in "acknowledging" the circumstances regarding the ruins of Jerusalem, wept, mourned, fasted, and prayed to God. The king noticed Nehemiah’s sad countenance and was concerned. Nehemiah explained the reason for his discontentment, and requested of the king permission to go and rebuild Judah. He went by night to "assess" the broken walls of Jerusalem. After he had evaluated the ruins, he commenced to assemble and gather the necessary resources. He told the people what he saw, and shared his intent to rebuild. Resources (human, financial, technological, and physical) are essential in "attending" to the business and matters at hand. God “attends” to and meet our needs, as we “attend” to those tasks and responsibilities He has placed in our hands. Please join me in preserving the legacy of our Visionary Legendary Servant Leader, the Late Apostle William L. Bonner. As we reminisce and rejoice in what God has wrought in and through his life, we ask that you make your contribution, by giving to the W L Bonner Presidential Memorial Scholarship.
