Race Bible
#RaceRenaissance
Follow Nunchuck Bunnies
The Genesis of The Race at Renaissance
The Race at Renaissance is the combined
vision of Leigh Laney and myself, the cofounders of Nunchuck Bunnies Racing Team.
We started bike racing in 2015, and we
competed throughout the region, but mostly
outside of Mississippi. As we moved into our
second season of racing, we felt inspired to
bring something unique to the metro-Jackson,
Mississippi area.
Leigh and I brainstormed the type of race we
wanted to hold. We agreed that a criterium
would be optimal since "crit" racing is not a
familiar scene for cyclists in the area. We also
realized that a time trial would appeal to many
triathletes, weekend riders as well as bike
racers, so that was included. Having selected
two events, something new (crit) and
something familiar (time trial), we felt that
was enough to bite off for our first year
organizing such a big event.
Mississippi Sports Medicine
And Orthopaedic Center
After deciding on the races, it took less than
five seconds for Leigh and I to agree that the
wonderful City of Ridgeland, Mississippi would
be the best place for the event. Ridgeland has
been recognized as being a "Bicycle Friendly"
city. Mayor Gene McGee is an avid cyclist,
and the City of Ridgeland has much to offer
people visiting the area. It is also conveniently
located just off of I-55, North of Jackson,
Mississippi. Overall, the perfect location for
locals and people visiting from outside the
area.
After meeting with the City officials and
Renaissance management, we kicked off
fundraising activity. We contacted many
different businesses in the area, and the ones
you see represented in this Race Bible were the
ones that came through. We thank them and
hope you do as well!
In addition to our sponsors, we thank the
LAMBRA officers, volunteers, support staff,
city officials, and Renaissance management
and businesses for helping to make this
happen.

Race Numbers
Race numbers must be placed on the side of lower back, just above the pockets (if
any), turned so that the numbers are upright when the rider is horizontal. For the
time trial, the number needs to be positioned on left side. For the criterium, the
number needs to positioned on the right side.
Criterium
Time Trial
Traffic Control
The Individual Time Trial course will be open to traffic. Please do not congregate in the
street, especially around the start/finish area. Please stay alert and in the designated lane
at all times. Try to stay right within the designated lane in case another racer wants to
pass. Use caution if passing another rider. It is good practice to always alter the rider you
are approach to pass by saying "Passing on the left!" loud enough for them to hear.
Respect the rights of others with whom we share the road. Private and unofficial vehicles
are NOT allowed on the course.
While the criterium is a closed course race and course marshals along with barricades or
cones will be stationed along the route, be alert of spectators and vehicles as there will be
limited race parking inside the course route.
Primes
There will be primes (pronounced "prems") announced before or during the criterium races
for all race classes/categories except Juniors and Cat 4/5 Men's race. The top finishers in
the Juniors and Cat 4/5 Men's class/category will be awarded custom designed Nunchuck
Bunnies medals, 3 deep.

Indian Cycle Criterium
Sunday, July 31st at 6:30am - Noon
Criterium Course:
The 0.76 mile (or 1.22km) criterium course is a combination of asphalt road and paver stone surface to give
it a "bumpy" European race experience. While the course will be closed to regular traffic, there will be
vehicles needing to cross over from time to time as directed by course marshals or police. Also, while
barricades will be placed in more populated areas of the course along with course marshals, there is the
possibility of pedestrians wandering onto the course. Please stay alert! The course will be ridden
counterclockwise as shown on the map below.
Criterium Rules:
• Riders are not permitted to warm up on the course until all riders from the previous race have
finished.
• The FREE LAP RULE will be in effect. You MUST report to the pit in order to receive a free lap.
The pit will be located in the Bike Maintenance Support area shown on the map below. Free laps are
only allow for mishaps as per USAC regulations. Riders suffering a mishap may not ride "against
traffic" in order to get to the pit. NO FREE LAPS WILL BE GRANTED DURING THE FINAL 8
KILOMETERS OF THE RACE.
(Rules continue on the next page)
Criterium Rules (continued):
• All riders finish on the same lap as the leader.
• Lapped riders may be pulled by the referee if they threaten to interfere with judging
and/or the finish.
• Lapped riders who are not pulled and allowed to continue, and are then caught by a
breakaway from the field, may not lead [disqualification] the breakaway. Riders off
the front of the field may not accept assistance from riders who have lost contact with
the back of the field [disqualification for accepting such assistance]. Lapped riders may
rejoin and race with the field.
• Following a bunch sprint, riders in the group must verify their presence in the group
with the judges IMMEDIATELY after the sprint.
• Bikes and times may be checked at the start.
• Numbers must be worn as specified in the General Rules and Regulations section of
this Race Bible. See Page 4.
